About the Role


ARK Group is a leading provider of research and consultancy services in the MENA region. The research department enables the company’s research-informed and evidence-based approach, which is validated by a track record of programmes and projects for governmental donors and international/multinational organisations across a range of thematic areas. Utilising innovative mixed-methods methodologies and working closely with local partners, communities and subject matter experts, the research department generates relevant data and insights as part of standalone research projects and/or to inform and drive conflict- and gender-sensitive programme ideation, design, implementation, and learning.


ARK Group is looking for an Aden-based Yemen Research Officer. Reporting to the MENA Research Manager and working closely with the Yemen Research Specialist and other members of the Yemen research team, as well as other Aden-based colleagues, the successful candidate will support the research and analysis efforts of two USAID-funded programmes: Building Peace in Yemen and Yemen Community Resilience Award. The successful candidate will play a key role in data collection, field research, engagement with Yemen-based colleagues, local partners, and local communities in areas of focus, and support research design, analysis, reporting and socialisation of research findings. By collaborating with a range of programme stakeholders and local partners, the researcher will contribute to all research activities, helping ensure that research findings and recommendations are contextually and conflict-sensitive to program activities and effectively integrated into programme delivery.


What you'll be doing


  • Assist with the research design and conduct primary and secondary research using various methodologies.
  • Gather data through field visits, interviews, and engagement with colleagues, members of communities of focus, local partners and other Yemen stakeholders.
  • Analyze research data utilising available tools.
  • Prepare/contribute to the preparation and presentation of research and reports.
  • Collaborate with the programmes’ leadership and other colleagues to integrate research findings into project activities.
  • Assist in developing project monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Represent the organization at relevant meetings and conferences.
  • Conduct training for project staff and local partners on research methodologies.
  • Develop knowledge management systems to enhance project effectiveness.
