Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HFC networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The role involves working with a variety of HFC equipment, including amplifiers, nodes, and cable infrastructure.
Job location is in Grand Junction, Colorado. Work is in the network, working out of hours (11pm - 7am) and is 5 days per week. Individuals need to be able to work at height in a bucket truck.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain HFC equipment, including nodes, amplifiers, and coaxial cables.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HFC networks to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to HFC networks, identifying and repairing faults promptly.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to implement HFC network upgrades and expansions.
- Perform signal testing and quality assessments to maintain network integrity.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all HFC installation and maintenance activities.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including equipment logs, service reports, and network diagrams.
- Coordinate with other technicians and field teams to support overall network objectives.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in HFC technology.
- Perform Coaxial splicing and mod swaps to ensure proper connectivity
- - Install and balance the forward and return on LEs, Amplifiers, mini bridges and other passive-related devices.
- - Conduct field service visits to troubleshoot and resolve network issues
- - Assist with network installation and upgrades
- - Possess knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems
- - Utilize hand tools to complete tasks efficiently
- Valid Driving license, drive bucket truck ( OSHA approved )
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or relevant coursework preferred.
- Proven experience working with HFC networks, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with HFC equipment such as amplifiers, nodes, and coaxial cables.
- Strong understanding of signal testing tools and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret network schematics and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to telecommunications installations.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
