Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineers to support the Power Network Strategy & Planning Division (PNSPD) in conducting power system studies, preparing business cases, and collaborating with various stakeholders. The selected candidates will work from Clients Abu Dhabi office for a period of 12 months (with possible extension).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement static, dynamic and transient models for electrical power system.
- Perform transmission long term planning involve substation expansion plans and transmission system master plans preparation.
- Perform technical and economical evaluation of the transmission system expansion alternatives.
- Perform transmission system impacts evaluation of the new loads and generation plants (renewable and conventional) connection requests.
- Perform electrical power system steady state, short circuit, dynamic and transient stability analysis
- Technical reporting to underpin the outcomes of network analysis.
- Preparation of business cases & technical presentation based on the outcome of the study
- Develop or modify automation scripts to enhance the efficiency, speed and accuracy of technical simulations with specific knowledge of automation scripts in Python.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in electrical power and power system or equivalent or master’s in electrical engineering from a recognized University.
Minimum Experience:
- Ten (10) Years of experience in the relevant field, experience shall include successfully completing a previous position as a Power Network Planning Engineer for a Project of a similar type and similar scope of work.
Field of Experience:
- In-depth understanding of fundamentals of electric power systems, grid operation and renewable energy
- Knowledge of transmission network planning and analysis
- Power system analysis including steady state, short circuit, dynamic and transient stability analysis.
- High level of experience of PSS/E software and python coding.
- Should have a high level of experience of Plexos software with the PSS/E.
- Well-developed analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability and skills to manage and deliver projects to agreed quality standards, within schedule constraints.
- Capable of working under pressure to meet project deadlines.
Additional Information
Technical Skills & Expertise:
- Strong understanding of fundamentals of electric power systems, grid operation, and renewable energy integration.
- Proficiency in PSS/E software for power system studies.
- Experience with Plexos software
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Python coding for power system automation scripts.
- Ability to manage and deliver projects while meeting quality and schedule constraints.
- Strong ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Service Level & Contract Terms:
- Contract Duration: 12 MONTHS (with possible extension)
