Black & Grey HR is recruiting for a diversified group seeking a Tendering Manager responsible for overseeing strategic estimation and tendering processes within the transmission division, while spearheading business development initiatives through high-level stakeholder engagement.The role requires a proactive approach to gain a competitive edge in bids and ensure the efficient sourcing of key materials, like cables, to support long-term division and project profits. Additionally, the person in this role will align business development goals with the company’s overall strategy, driving sustainable growth and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Tendering and Estimation:
- Develop and implement strategies for creating accurate and competitive cost estimates for power transmission projects, including substations and overhead lines(OHL).
- Lead collaboration with external customers like utility authorities and private clients, as well as internal teams (operations and management) to ensure bids meet technical and financial requirements.
- Conduct site visits and create detailed reports to support accurate estimates and project planning.
- Respond to client questions and concerns about proposals with timely and effective communication.
- Build and maintain a database of pre-qualified vendors and subcontractors to improve bid competitiveness.
- Track and report on submitted tenders to improve bid success rates.
Business Development Support:
- Identify and prioritize valuable business opportunities based on tendering and estimation activities.
- Provide the business development team with insights about upcoming tenders, market trends, and competitors.
- Act as a strategic advisor to ensure alignment between operations, management, estimation, and business development teams to achieve goals.
Material Sourcing:
- Develop and manage strategic sourcing for key materials, especially cables, focusing on quality, cost, and supply chain reliability in coordination with the Supply Chain Division.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
Contract Management:
- Align cost estimates and material sourcing with overall contractual goals and risk management strategies.- Work with project leadership to proactively address and resolve any changes or variations, aiming to maximize profitability.
Cost Efficiency:
- Continuously assess and improve cost estimates and material sourcing strategies to boost profitability.
- Lead monthly strategy sessions with the project team to evaluate cost performance and take advantage of market opportunities
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.- Min 15 years of experience in tendering, estimation, or business development in power transmission.- Strong expertise in strategic sourcing and managing supplier relationships, especially for critical materials like cables.- In-depth knowledge of power transmission systems, substations, and overhead line (OHL) projects, with a focus on strategy.- Excellent skills in strategic planning, negotiation, and stakeholder management.- Proficient in advanced estimation tools, project management software, and Microsoft Office.- Solid understanding of sustainability practices and ESG compliance frameworks.- Proven track record of leading projects under tight deadlines while handling multiple high-priority tasks.- Extensive experience working with major utilities and influencing government tenders.
