Job Description

The American University in the Emirates is searching for a Talent Acquisition and Recruitment Officer. The job purpose is to ensure the smooth function of the recruitment activities, onboarding, and compensation and benefits administration. The role will handle all Recruitment administration aspects, systems, and records of the recruitment process and to maintain the standards with regards to the recruitment and selection of quality AUE faculty and administration staff to the University standards.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Master's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Managerment or related field from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Recruitment, Selection and employee onboarding
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the UAE
  • Must be bilingual (speaks English and Arabic fluently)

Skills / Training / Knowledge


  • Hands-on experience working with Recruitment tools, Linkedin, and other Job Portals.
  • Experience in Talent Acquisition, Recruitment and Onboarding Process
  • Extensive knowledge of effective recruitment practices and techniques
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills are required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Good presentation skills and public relations

Job Description


  1. Posting job advertisements, checking application forms, screening, shortlisting, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
  2. Review and screen applications and candidates following selection criteria to ensure only suitable candidates are selected for the interview stage.
  3. Facilitate the interview and selection process, conduct reference checks for all recommended candidates, and document the results ensuring adherence to University standards, including maintenance of candidate database and recruitment correspondence.
  4. Handle all recruitment-related communication, respond to queries and applications, and ensure all recruitment requests are approved with all related documents available.
  5. Identify financial compensation for new hires in compliance with established policies and procedures, prepare salary proposals for recommended candidates, and submit for approval.
  6. Prepare employment offers for faculty and administrative staff.
  7. Ensure candidates have appropriate credential documents for clearance and visa processing, and coordinate with the Public Relations Office for security clearance documents.
  8. Coordinate with HR officers for arranging flight and hotel bookings for candidates' visits and new hires.
  9. Strategic Recruitment Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies aligned with AUE's goals and objectives to attract qualified candidates for various positions.
  10. Candidate Sourcing and Outreach: Utilize multiple channels, including job boards, social media, networking events, and educational institutions to identify and engage potential candidates.
  11. Collaboration with Departments: Work closely with academic and administrative departments to understand staffing needs and provide recruitment guidance.
  12. Employer Branding: Promote AUE as an employer of choice by highlighting its values, culture, and professional growth opportunities.
  13. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all recruitment activities comply with relevant laws and university policies, and maintain accurate records and reports.
  14. Talent Market Analysis: Analyze labor market trends to identify talent pools and guide recruitment strategies.
  15. Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives: Develop strategies to attract a diverse talent pool and ensure equitable hiring practices.
  16. Pipeline Development: Build and maintain a talent pipeline for future hiring needs.
  17. Recruitment Metrics and Analytics: Track and analyze hiring metrics (e.g., time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, quality of hire) to identify areas for improvement.
  18. ATS Optimization: Regularly update and configure the applicant tracking system (ATS) to streamline workflows.
  19. Ensure all required hiring documents are available for the employee file and validate documents in both hard copy and online HRMS portal.
  20. Provide reports/statistical/analytical information to management on matters related to talent acquisition, recruitment, and faculty qualifications.
  21. Assist in preparing reports for CHEDS (Center for Higher Education Data and Statistics) and other special reports for colleges and departments as needed.
  22. Assist the Payroll Division with recruitment reports for payroll.
  23. Perform any duties as assigned by superiors.
