Job Description

A leading multinational shipping company is seeking a Supplier Relationship Manager to cultivate collaborative supplier partnerships, ensure operational excellence, and optimize costs within the designated region. This role involves monitoring supplier performance, providing guidance to internal stakeholders, and enhancing supply chain efficiency while streamlining supplier-facing processes.

Key Responsibilities:


Relationship Management:


  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact within the region.
  • Initiate and schedule regular meetings to maintain proactive communication, address issues, and identify improvement opportunities.

Performance Management:


  • Monitor supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure suppliers meet established goals and standards.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to suppliers and communicate performance results to internal stakeholders.

Supply Chain Efficiency & Optimization:


  • Seek opportunities to achieve cost savings and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Explore alternative routes and identify new potential suppliers in collaboration with the Procurement Team.
  • Resolve blocked supplier invoices, monitor disputes, and support their resolution.
  • Identify invoice trends and optimize supplier invoicing processes.
  • Manage the actual allocation and available capacity of suppliers, ensuring the most appropriate suppliers are utilized.

Compliance & Safety:


  • Identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions for major supplier events.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Act as the key escalation point for internal stakeholders for major supplier-related events and incidents.

Cross-functional Collaboration:


  • Advocate for suppliers internally, aligning with internal teams to improve supplier/customer satisfaction and supply chain efficiency.
  • Maintain routine updates to internal teams and clarify expectations on supplier services.
  • Conduct regular training for operations and commercial staff on multimodal routes and schedules.

Project Management:


  • Lead and manage various projects as they arise.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a logistics/shipping company.
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of the logistics industry and transportation networks in the relevant region.
  • Experience working in an international environment.
