Job Description

1) Supervise all activities associated with structural, piping and pipeline welding on board offshore barges/vessels. 2) Identify requirements for personnel, equipment and welding consumables to meet project requirements prior to offshore mobilization. 3) Coordinate with welding supervisors / foremen, welding inspectors and third party NDT personnel. 4) Responsible for carrying out welding trials, qualification of welding procedures, training of welders/ welding operators at offshore. 5) Responsible for implementing applicable welding and QA/QC procedures and maintaining welders’ qualification validity. 6) Conduct tool box meetings with welding crew and promote safety awareness among them. 7) Supervise the setting up of welding, beveling and clamping equipment for correctness. 8) Closely monitor the consumption of welding electrodes, shielding gases, welding flux and other related material and report short-falls or request replenishment ahead of time to warehouse and field engineer. 9) Coordinate with client, third party and inspection team on welding issues. 10) Troubleshooting of welding related problems and maintain progress. 11) Take necessary actions to establish a safe working environment. 12) Compliance in accordance with Company codes and HSE standards.
Skills Required
• 12 years’ schooling with technical qualification in pipeline welding using SMAW, FCAW, mechanised SAW processes and automatic welding using GMAW (pulsed) process in 5G downhill position, air-arc gouging and repair welding.
• Minimum 12 years’ hands-on experience in welding, out of which minimum 6 years as Welding Supervisor.
• Working knowledge of structural, piping and pipeline welding codes such as AWS D1.1, ASME B31.3, AP1 1104 and DNV OS-F 101,
• Sound technical knowledge in welding processes such as SMAW, SAW, GMAW, FCAW (inner shield), STT and welding of various materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, CRA clad steel, etc.
• Ability to read and understand welding procedure specification and inspection plan documents.
• Good written and spoken English language skills.
• Must be conversant with client specifications and welding standards and must be capable of interpreting radiography films of welded joints.
