About the Job
The job holder is responsible to manage a portfolio of joint-customer application development projects and provide technical solutions and support to customers and other relevant value chain members.
Responsibility for managing several Application Development Projects with the objective of developing business opportunities in the form of new applications and hence expanding Borouge’s market areas of involvement, enhancing our offering to the value chain with a focus on the direct converters and ultimately optimising profitability to meet overall company financial objectives.
From a technical perspective, responsible to drive continuous improvements in quality and performance of Borouge products at converters/value chain members in the respective area of responsibility to meet customer needs, production needs and business targets. To play a key role in identifying new customer needs and identifying/supporting the development of new product innovations that contribute towards achieving step change innovations that drive the MC strategy.
The Senior ADE role requires the experience and knowledge to directly provide customers and other key value chain members including brand owners, machine manufacturers and government bodies with technical solutions and new application proposals to run and expand their business successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand competitor pricing, product and regional strategy.
- Able to start providing inputs to MC on product and pricing strategies.
- Understand and communicate to the Marketing and Marketing Intelligence teams, factors that will dramatically affect supply and demand balance (e.g. launch of new products, new capacity by competitors).
- Promote and coordinate technical knowledge harvesting within the organization.
- Act as a key member of the regional AMT and help AMM’s develop business cases and value propositions for new products
- Participate in the definition and execution of Borouge new product development program involving in new materials and process qualification, new product plant trials, machinery manufacturer engagement and commercialization.
- Lead the effective project management for complex projects (with higher technical scope handle by territorial teams) to meet project objectives on time, cost and quality standards.
- Keep abreast with Patents/Intellectual Property Right issues and developments for the assigned application and monitor optimum protection of company IPRs in accordance with defined laws and protocols.
- Proactively review how Borouge materials can be improved with insights gained from interactions with customers and machinery manufacturers.
- Understand and anticipate user perceptions of the new products relevant to areas of expertise.
- Maintain an active lookout for new market innovation opportunities through interactions with external contacts.
- Participate as a proactive member of functional network(s), develop positive liaison with relevant external contacts (e.g. customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, authorities, standardization committees).
- Share technical findings, benchmarking studies, comparative studies of the competitor products with the rest of the marketing organization to better influence Borouge's market positions.
- Ensure consolidation and effective communication of technical findings discussed in Regional AMT and other meetings.
- Understand product features and be able to turn that into value propositions and benefits to assist in value selling training of sales team.
- Deliver value-added, product benefits information to customers.
- Obtain first hand product and process knowledge through customer visits. E.g. ask about product use, applications, expectations, etc.
- Conduct a product portfolio analysis and benchmark against competition to develop specific recommendations and actions to management.
- Continual assessment and prioritization of individual product applications, sales and margins. Uses this knowledge to promote the right materials to the right customers to drive MC strategy.
- Develop improved products with value chain partners.
- Able to correspond with value chain partners as technical expert.
- Maintain strong diverse and multi-level relationships.
- Maintain frequent contact with key customers/ value chain partners to understand current and future market and customer/ value chain partners’ requirements.
- Regularly seek sales force input and incorporate insights into implementation of plans.
- Maintain professional composure in the face of others' anger and complaints.
- Engage with value chain partners appropriately to build customer intimacy, in support of marketing plan and business objectives and to develop products with enhanced properties that fit future needs.
- Effectively exchange information with value chain partners to identify and clarify benefits and potential problems; actively listen to value chain partners and displays understanding of their issues, viewpoints and needs.
Minimum Requirements
- BSc degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent science / engineering degree, MBA degree will be an asset
- Commercial understanding and interest in business value in the pipe business
- Knowledge in operating computer, Microsoft Office, Windows and Internet Exploring
- Basic understanding of intellectual rights
- Good knowledge of products development commercialisation process
- Good knowledge of corporate strategy
- Knowledge of products, manufacturing and cables technology
- Knowledge of cables value chain
- Knowledge of Borouge procedures and systems
- Minimum 5 years of total experience in cables manufacturing and extrusion experience, ideally at a cables converter or other direct downstream value chain member.
- Expertise in process troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Expertise in quality control and quality assurance for cables .
- Expertise in cables jointing and installation methods
- Full understanding of international standards related to cables industry.
- Knowledge in cables network design
