Specialist Optometrist 1

• In addition to performing all the optometry examinations the Specialist optometrist has to help the head of the unit to manage the optometry team.
• To do special contact lens trial, fitting, prescribing it in irregular ectatic corneal conditions.
• To do low vision assessment, trial and prescribe low vision aids [magnifiers, telescopes etc]
• to improve vision in low vision patients.
• To do pre and post lasik work up, assist ophthalmologist during lasik surgery.
• To do Electrophysiology tests like VEP-ERG and report.
• To train, supervise and guide optometrists in difficult cases.
• Patient Education related to their visual condition.
• Using all ophthalmology diagnostic instruments.
• Assisting the head of the unit to make duty rotas for optometry staff arranging annual leaves.
• Managing day to day optometry and orthoptic related problems in the clinic.
• Undertaking lectures for continuing education and training of optometrists.
