JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose



Coordinates exploration geology activities and quality control of the geological work carried out. Conduct geological studies including for instance evaluation of under developed field, exploration play including unconventional play-shale oil reviews, prospect ranking and maturation studies, log/siesmic interpretations and correlations, exploration and appraisal well proposals and participation in multi-disciplinary studies to define and evaluate exploration and appraisal prospect. The function also includes giving technical support to the team leader and VP Exploration and representation of technical meetings with OPCO shareholders, vendors and consultants.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)



To evaluate proposals for geological studies or data gathering activities such as exploration and appraisal wells and offer advice on the scope of the studies and extent of the data gathering activities.
To propose and justify data gathering activities such as the acquisition of cores, pressure measurements and wireline logs in exploration or appraisal wells or (in full cooperation with the department's geophysicists) seismic or other geophysical data.
To conduct geological studies, including well log interpretations, well log correlations, preparation of regional reservoir property maps, play maps, prospect maps and other maps, regional play evaluations, prospect ranking and maturation studies, basin analysis and geochemical studies, exploration and appraisal well proposals, etc., all in full cooperation with other disciplines and integrating all petroleum engineering, geological.
To be able to conduct or participate in works that relate to the construction of Petroleum system events, either basin, acreage or prospect scale, including any numerical modeling work.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 2)



To be able to show good understanding of the works and processes involved with steps/methodologies/workflows of Petroleum system modeling and the relevance for the Al Yasat Petroleum concession
To be able to determine and justify the input parameters for resource calculations and be able to perform hydrocarbon volume calculations. Understand the application of “cut-off” volumes, risk assessment, types and levels of risk interdependency of prospect, and differences between play and prospect level risks.
To be able to determine the common pitfalls and limitations of data types, logging tools and data acquisition techniques for Exploration wells.
To advise Management on acquisition of new software and hardware related to geological studies.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 3)



To be able to collate, analyze and synthesize petroleum geological data and assess the exploration prospectivity and resource potential of a basin or acreage. In addition, offer recommendations for further works and/or activities.
To delegate, plan and supervise exploration geological projects, including quality control of the final products such as geological study reports, geochemical analysis reports, basin analysis reports, well proposals, volumetric assessments, etc.
Prepare and disseminate reports on a regular and ad hoc basis to ensure that all concerned parties are aware of the status of the work in progress of the projects undertaken in the field from a technical perspective.
Staying up-to- date with the latest software developments and new applications which are of potential value to the Division.

Internal Communications & Working Relationships



Reports to Manager, Exploration. Daily contact with Geologists and other Upstream experts in the Division.
Regular interaction with Field Development management for planning of exploration activities.
Regular contact with counterparts in ADNOC HQ and other Group Companies.

External Communications & Working Relationships



Regular contact and coordination with contractors and service companies for overseeing survey operations.
Occasional contact with industry experts within the region.
Occasional contact with shareholder representatives

Minimum Qualification



• Bachelor Degree in Sciences Geology/Geophysics or equivalent.

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills



12 - 15 years of experience in all aspects of exploration geology including play evaluation, prospect ranking and maturation, exploration well proposal preparation, etc. Good understanding of the various aspects of site manal.
Minimum of 5 years experience working in carbonates, preferably within the Middle East. Be able to demonstrate experience with geological, petrophysical and geophysical interpretation.
Experience in prospectivity risk analysis, volumetrics of lead and prospect ranking
