Job Description
Flight Recorders Laboratory (FRL)
- Document, maintain, and manage the operations of AAIS Flight Recorders laboratory in compliance with ICAO Annex 13, AAIR.
- Manage and maintain Damaged Flight Recorders data recovery capability and conduct the comprehensive data recovery procedures including the electronics circuit board chip recovery
- Conduct the process of downloading the raw data from the flight data recorders (FDR and CVR) that are involved in accidents, serious incidents or incidents as per the manufacturers’ technical procedures.
- Conduct Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR) playback session and compose the CVR transcript in coordination with Investigator-in-Charge (IIC)
- Identify and develop recovery procedures for the alternate sources of aircraft data recording devices or equipment (FMS, QAR, etc).
- Establishand maintain Imaging Laboratory for the aircraft parts or components collected as evidences from the accidents/serious incidents to scan, x-ray, and microscopic photographs for the metallurgy analysis.
- Maintain the investigation tools and equipment functionality in order to ensure that they stored as per the manufacturer specifications and kept in safe working condition.
- Organize and provide tools and equipment during AAIS accident exercises including drones, FARO scanner and investigation technologies.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Maintain Flight Recorders Laboratory procedure manual as per the international standards.
Reporting
- Ensure that all functional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet GCAA requirements and quality standards.
- Produce graphical representation of the flight animations videos to simulate the accident/incident flight.
- Compose flight recorders factual/group(s) reports for the investigation Final Report in the factual information, pertaining analysis, conclusions, and safety recommendations relevant to the flight recorders and the downloaded data.
Health, Safety and Environment within GCAA
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude as per IMS available standards
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- University degree in a technical discipline relevant to the aviation industry; or equivalent aviation technical qualification; and 3 - 5 years’ experience in a relevant environment.
