As a Specialist Consultant Surgical Oncologist, you will leverage your surgical expertise to perform complex oncological procedures and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients diagnosed with cancer, including compiling detailed medical histories and physical exams.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as CT scans, MRIs, and biopsies, to inform surgical interventions.
- Develop individualized surgical treatment plans in partnership with other healthcare professionals.
- Execute surgical procedures to treat various cancers, utilizing the latest techniques to ensure patient safety and the best possible outcomes.
- Monitor patients' recovery post-surgery and intervene as necessary to manage complications.
- Engage with patients and families to provide education about treatment options, post-operative care, and recovery expectations.
- Participate in tumor board meetings and other collaborative settings to discuss treatment strategies.
- Remain abreast of advancements in surgical oncology through ongoing education and research activities.
