Specialist - ATM Research & Systems Adaptation

System Design 

• Assist the line manager in the process of system design and implementation for all new and existing ATM systems
• Asses technical and operational requirements for new and existing ATM systems
• Support with providing a technical and operational review of System Requirement Specification (SRS).
• Plan and support with conducting tests on prototypes at the developer’s facility to ensure that the newly developed software is functioning as intended and make sure that any shortcomings in the developments are effectively reported and properly documented.
• Assist with Planning and conducting tests at the ATM systems facility and verify new software or changes in the existing software to ensure that the software delivered is functioning as intended and make sure that shortcomings are effectively reported, properly documented and obtain necessary approval from management for implementation.

Research

• Conduct research assignments in  the field of aviation systems and technology to ensure that GCAA’s ATM systems are in line with or ahead of international best practices.
• Assist with Analysing possible improvements to current processes and ATM systems for management recommendations

Software upgrade/modification

• Carry out software  upgrades and prepare impact and safety statements for approval by Management for ATM system components at Sheikh Zayed Centre and relevant airports.
• Recommend upgrades/modifications to the management and obtain necessary approval as and when required.
• Assist the team with the Plan, test and implement software changes with required Configuration Control documentation for approval by Management.

Configuration of the ATM system

• Carry out and implement configuration of FDPS, CWP, ARTAS, SN, Diversity system, TSP, and VCS based on the changes in AIRAC amendments, SATI, LATSI, ATM instructions, airport requests that are approved by ATM etc. in Sheikh Zayed Centre and relevant airports.
• Assess, plan and implement necessary ATM system configurations to provide required maps on Air Traffic Controller displays at Sheikh Zayed Centre and relevant airports.
• Assis with the Plan, test and implement configurations with required Configuration Control documentation for approval by Management.

Safety Assessment

• Participate and provide technical and operational expertise in safety assessments of ATM systems prior to implementation. 
• Report identified risks with possible mitigation.

Training delivery

• Prepare training materials such as presentations, handouts, knowledge verification, syllabus, schedules etc. for new enhancements/modifications introduced to the ATM system.
• Delivery of training to operators including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at Sheikh Zayed Centre, relevant airports and military bases.

Investigation

• Provide assistance with Investigate incidents that require technical analysis for Emirates ACC and relevant airports based on ATM instructions.

Documentation

• Update documentation for all ANS R&D related activities for future reference.

Reporting

• Ensure that all functional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet GCAA requirements and quality standards.

Health, Safety and Environment within GCAA 

• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude as per IMS available standards

Other Tasks/ Accountability 

• Perform additional tasks relevant to the role / area of expertise as requested by the management to be able to achieve the objectives/commitments.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

• Fully qualified ATCO with 3 years’ experience at international facilities
• Training and experience in the configuration of LINUX based applications.
• Training and experience in Flight Data Processing (FDP) for ACC systems, approach, and control tower.
• Training and experience in Radar Data Processing (RDP), especially multi radar data processing.
• Training and experience in data exchange, especially ASTERIX and OLDI.
