DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To conduct anesthesia for routine and emergency surgical patients resuscitate as a team member and manage critically ill ventilated ICU patients.
- To conduct assessment & re-assessment for all patients in the OPD, on admission, and prior to any procedure.
- Provides anesthesia with the full range of anesthetic agents
- Provides technical advice and guidance to nursing staff, other specialists and registrars, as required, and provides orientation/training in new techniques and procedures.
- Interviews patients scheduled for surgery to asses and develop an anesthesia care plan and to establish rapport and allay fear and apprehension.
- Manage patients during sedation and during the period of actual recovery from sedation and documents monitoring.
- Sees patients post operatively to evaluate recovery from anesthesia, to assess complications and make recommendation as indicated.
- Supervises and maintains appropriate documentation on the “controlled drugs” for the division in the Obstetrical operating theatres and main O.R.
- Organize a suitable call-schedule to provide a satisfactory anesthetic service to the hospital.
- Organize and direct Q.I. activities of this division, including preparing reports, etc. as required.
- Assists Chief Anesthesiologist In supervising the day-to-day anesthetic work.
- Keeps current with new procedures and techniques in the field of Anesthesia.
- Acts as Chief Anesthesiologist as assigned in his absence.
- Stands on-call duty as assigned by Chief Anesthesiologist, for emergency surgery, obstetrics and/or medical procedures.
- Performs duties as outlined above and such other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Chief Anesthesiologist.
- Takes active part in the teaching of junior anesthesiologists and other nursing staff.
- To conduct anesthesia services in appropriate dosages for all age groups in routine or emergency situations.
- Actively participate in CPR.
- Provides on-call emergency services of anesthesia services.
- Conduct labor analgesias.
OSH Roles and responsibilities
GENERAL:
- Responsible to be familiarize, comply and implement the OSHAD-SF& NMCSH Al Ain Internal OSHMS policies and procedures/SOP’s relevant to their department.
- Staff should notify/report all OSHMS hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses within the premises of NMCSH Al Ain to their supervisor or department OSH Facilitator as per the incident reporting protocol of NMCSH Al Ain.
- Staff are responsible to assist with the preparation of departmental risk assessment activities and implement the control measure within the timeframe.
- Staff are responsible to attend applicable department OSHMS training.
- Staff are not allowed to tamper or misuse any NMCSH Al Ain equipment’s and its property.
- Comply with all OSH instructions, safe working procedures and signages within the premises of NMCSH-Al Ain.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedure.
- not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety;
- Make proper use of all machinery, tools, substances, etc., safety systems and of all Personal Protective Equipment provided for use at work.
- Participate in required OSH inspection, audit and OSH monitoring programs.
SPECIFIC:
- Ensuring safe manual handling safe practices techniques, during diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures.
- Handles all consumables and instruments with utmost care and follows safety, infection control and prevention protocols.
- Ensure to wear and use the appropriate protective equipment as per practice.
- Assist customers in identifying workplace hazards, which affect health.
- Provide expert advice on products, premises and processes, which may affect health and safety at work.
- Assist in identifying areas for health improvement, to improve staff health, staff performance and patient care.
- Ensure accurate, appropriate and timely implementation of relevant legislation, national standards and directives – e.g. FANR, DOH , DOH OSHMS.
