With an expanding portfolio in the UAE, GHD have created an exciting opportunity for a talented Structural Engineer to join our Construction Management Team.

Key roles and responsibilities:

• Good communication skills are a must.
• A sound knowledge of Engineering Principles and ability to design using all common building materials.
• Report writing and documentation skills.
• Processing construction documentation such as, responding to RFI’s and commenting on engineering submittals.
• Review engineering designs and provide input on their suitability. Advise on changes if required during the engineering phase.
• Contribute to designs produced by GHD to ensure the contractor has a well-coordinated set of drawings.
• Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures are followed during project execution.
• Proactively collaborate with other members of the team to deliver innovative and balanced best value solutions that meet the Client’s requirements. 
• Assist Project Managers in monitoring and driving progress.
• Manage BIM technicians and mentoring graduate engineers.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• B.S. or equivalent degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university with minimum fifteen (15) years relevant experience. Must have been in consultant’s organisation for at least three (3) years in similar position.
• Has adequate knowledge of all international codes, standards and other construction practices to be utilized during EPC Phases of project execution. Additional experience with Middle East projects will be distinctly preferable. In addition he shall be able to interpret any owners/local specifications & standards intended for the Project and direct EPC accordingly. Further, he shall have the thorough knowledge of software to be generally used during design and Engineering phase of the work, to check the work of the EPC Contractor. His particular experience in projects done in Middle East and including similar solar power Plants will be added qualification for the work.
• Must have the capacity to manage and control EPC Contractor and the deliverables to be generated during design & Engineering. Participation during constructability reviews and contribution there in shall be supported with adequate proof on large sized projects recently executed preferably in Middle East.
• Have proven experience of delivering projects from design through completion in a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-office project execution environment. 
• Experienced user of structural engineering software including CSi ETABS, SAFE, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, STAAD, Prokon in addition to in-house spreadsheets.
• A solid background knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, with ability to carry out coordination and reviews through Revit. 
• Can undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs.
