As a member of the Zurich Global Employee Benefits Solutions* (ZGEBS) Middle East team, you will be responsible for underwriting and analyzing new and existing Group Life & Group Medical Business within delegated authority levels, under direct supervision, to achieve business goals and maximize customer experience.



*The Zurich Global Employee Benefits Solutions team help multinational companies find the right financing solutions for their global employee benefit plans.
 




Job Accountabilities

As Senior ZGEBS M.E Underwriter,  your role will involve: 


  • Provides technical pricing support and guidance to customers and distributors under delegated authority. 
  • Demonstrate technical excellence in pricing large corporate healthcare schemes and skills in evaluating medical trends and key inflation drivers. 
  • Deep understanding of private medical insurance benefits offered in the region and minimum benefits mandated by the regulators. 
  • Provide technical pricing impacts for benefit changes and suggestions on enhancements/cost containment of benefits with related impacts to the clients and related functions. 
  • Works within delegated limits and authorities on complex assignments, requiring coordination and negotiating skills to achieve business goals and maximize customer experience. 
  • Works closely with distributors and other operational areas to achieve the business plan, leveraging knowledge to impact strategy relating to underwriting expertise, systems, procedures and processes. 
  • Completes assignments of high complexity while working within delegated authority. 
  • Serves as an expert in specialist underwriting areas as needed, keeping up to date with any changes or developments in these areas. 
  • Provides technical underwriting expertise and guidance to customers and distributors, consistently providing excellent customer service. 
  • Contributes to the delivery of underwriting strategy by sharing best practices across territories and functions. 
  • Creates productive distributor relationships by consistently requesting the correct evidence, consistently making the correct decision and always explaining rating decisions. 
  • Completes a range of queries and referrals within agreed authority limits, measuring the exposure & analyzing the risk of each case to maintain underwriting standards. 
  • Proactively identifies and contributes to the development and improvement of technical underwriting standards, controls, practices and procedures to better meet business goals. 
  • Proactively identifies and contributes ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions /procedures/ philosophy, ensuring we charge the right premium for the associated risk. 
  • Proactively and responsibly takes ownership for personal development and acts as a role model contributing to a positive and supportive team culture. 
  • Facilitates quality for the team, providing feedback on errors and providing root cause analysis of errors to avoid repeated mistakes; recommends change or remedial action where appropriate. 
  • Utilize established financial systems to monitor profitability and growth of specialty areas of business and provide recommendations around aspects requiring change. 
  • Develop a business case for projects in own area to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process. 


Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need: 


  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance and 8 or more years of experience in related field. 
  • Other professional qualifications such as AFPC (Pensions), APMI, IMC. 
  • Healthcare pricing experience for large corporates in the region. 
  • Familiarity with customer needs and those of their advisers. 
  • An ability to understand, interpret and translate customer requirements into deliverables A good understanding of DC pensions and an awareness of current pensions issues. 
  • Good understanding of the compliance requirements affecting dealings with Intermediaries, Trustees, Companies, and members. 
  • Understanding of ZCS’s DC objectives.
  • Excellent communication, influence and motivation skills. 
  • Business planning and organization skills.
