About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician to join the Aquarium team in Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

• To maintain cleanliness, integrity, and appearance of exhibits in the aquarium, daily dive logs and records.
• To be familiar with husbandry, diving and aquarium procedures and any health and safety aspects related to it.
• To ensure that dive operations safety measures are always followed and to conduct rescue diving drills and dive emergency exercises.
• To manage inventory of all diving equipment and schedules service maintenance and reporting to the manager the status of inventory that is used for diving operations
• To conduct dive inductions and refreshers that may be required by the department and facilities
• Participate in the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project and assist with protocols, movements and releases
• To conduct Water chemistry analysis and analysis and log in results in diary and computer.
• To be fully familiar with and comply with relevant policies and procedures relating to fire, emergencies and evacuation, safety and first aid, technical services department, and security.
• To be fully familiar with the instructor’s outlines in the employee Handbook and posted in key areas throughout the SBU.
• To report to and communicate any issues regarding the aquarium displays to the Director and Curator and to perform other duties that management may from time to time reasonably require.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• PADI Dive Master or equivalent and Emergency First Responder or equivalent.
• 2 years diving experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 20 logged open water dives within the last 2 years
• Advanced written and spoken English communication skills.
• Previous diving experience in cleaning and maintenance of Aquarium exhibits and experience with aquarium husbandry (desired).
