Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior System Engineer with a strong background in system administration and IT infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience working with government entities in the UAE and possess in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, ADFS, MFA, and virtualization technologies. This role involves managing the administration, optimization, and security of our server and storage infrastructure, ensuring operational integrity and seamless integration of hybrid cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the administration, optimization, and security of the MOEI’s server and storage infrastructure, including Windows Server, Linux systems, and virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V.
- Ensure that all servers are patched and updated to protect against vulnerabilities and maintain operational integrity.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for critical systems, ensuring regular testing of backups and data recoverability in case of system failure.
- Oversee the integration of on-premises servers with cloud services, ensuring the seamless operation of hybrid cloud environments.
- Monitor server performance, resource usage (CPU, memory, storage), and ensure optimal allocation of system resources across all workloads.
- Perform system hardening and apply security policies to protect against unauthorized access and malware.
- Troubleshoot system issues, collaborating with other IT teams to resolve performance, security, and availability issues.
- Provide technical support for MOEI’s virtualized environments, ensuring high availability and effective use of VMs, storage arrays, and network-attached storage (NAS) systems.
- Document system configurations, processes, and policies to ensure clear and accessible records for audit and compliance purposes, including operating manuals and SOPs for Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, ADFS, MFA, Dell Backup, Server and Storage solutions, VMware vSphere, and NSX-T.
- Support existing infrastructure and systems, including Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, ADFS, MFA, and various virtualization and operating systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT architects, systems engineers, project managers, and business stakeholders, to ensure successful management of infrastructure components while maintaining high levels of security, availability, and performance.
- Perform regular patching and updates on in-scope systems.
Required Experience & Certifications:- Minimum of 8 years of UAE experience in system administration, specifically with government entities, specializing in IT infrastructure, including Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, ADFS, MFA, Dell & Commvault Backup, Server and Storage solutions, VMware vSphere, and NSX-T.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), and AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
- In-depth experience with SAN storage solutions, disaster recovery planning, and cloud integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with Linux Enterprise systems (SUSE, RedHat, Ubuntu, etc.) and good working experience with the implementation of Docker containers and Kubernetes clusters.
- Strong technical knowledge and extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft infrastructure components, Dell solutions, and VMware products.
- Experience with tools and technologies tailored for Microsoft, Dell, and VMware systems.
- Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery principles and best practices, especially in the context of these technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues related to these technologies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, with an emphasis on multi-technology integrations.
