JOB PURPOSE
The jobholder is responsible to provide specialized engineering for Borouge’s process technology to ensure safe and reliable operation of existing plants, along with potential optimization, process related investigation and to support the technical projects and plant expansion to ensure correct and consistent design philosophies and practices are applied in different stages of the projects.

Technical Authority
Provide expert services related to the design and development of process facilities in Borouge ensuring that design is HSE compliant, optimum, and meets operational requirements, as Company’s technical authority and advisor in the area of Process Technology, Design and Engineering and
Approve all Technical Queries and Concession Requests, approval of various Reviews Closed out Reports such as HAZOP, Value Engineering, and Technical Bid Evaluations
Identify and communicate with licensor, product owners and product development engineers from Innovation Center regarding development of new products and step changes in current products.
Initiate, direct and coordinate the standardization of process design work, including design basis, specifications and philosophies. Ensures correct and consistent design practices (such as codes and standards, specifications and philosophies) are applied across various projects in different fields.
Participate and contribute as Process Technical Authority in the key HSE reviews like HAZOP, HAZID, PSSR, etc. for the new Projects and expansion / growth projects.
Act as the technical Advisor in the field of Process Engineering and provides necessary guidance/advice to the various Asset Teams within Projects & Technical support and other Units/Functions.
Act as the technical advisor to Engineering Management on the development of corporate guidelines that involves the Process Engineering input.
Pre-study
Act as process advisor/consultant in leading the pre-studies and feasibility studies required to develop new projects or to incorporate new technologies as part of the Identify and Assess and Select stages
Review and validate the pre-studies and feasibility studies required to develop new projects or to incorporate new technologies.
Liaise with SS&BD for development of Technical studies & Business case validation
Responsible for providing the technical inputs to business case development, review and validation in the Define and Execute stages.
Approve various Reviews Closed out Reports such as Technical studies, Value Engineering, ADNOC major projects IPR (Independent Project Review), COP (Cost Optimization Project) and VAP (Value assurance Processes).
Provide inputs and guidance for the OL/PO Investment road map and business plan.
Provide technical advises to the Business development team during optimization studies, debottlenecking studies, conceptual studies and feasibility studies, leading to increased safety and profitability of the assets.
Process Excellence
Review and update of Process BGS, and review and approval of deviations to Process BGS, as an owner of Borouge General Specifications for Process Discipline.
Identify and communicate with licensors of new technologies to identify new opportunities for developing the assets of Borouge.
Seize opportunities to develop / identify new projects to match site feedstock and monomer availability, intermediate products demand and by-products utilization
Identify and communicate with licensor, product owners and product development engineers from Innovation Centre regarding development of new products and step changes in current products.
Participate in licensors meetings and network meetings with other OPCOs and plant representatives, as well as in the profit optimization meeting for raw materials and investment related inputs.
Coordinate with operations and site supply chain for product cycle optimization and better utilization of existing and future assets in Ruwais.
Identify and communicate with licensors of new technologies to identify new opportunities for developing the assets of Borouge.
Participate in process evaluation, development and technical risk analysis to ensure most economical and efficient design of processes and equipment
Risk & Event Management
As a technical authority expert, he works with Operation, to identify best operational strategy and deliver innovative technical solutions by using internationally acclaimed OPEX tools including Risk & event management tools and use of RCA for proper identification of root cause of plant problems.
Participate in process evaluation, development and technical risk analysis to ensure most economical and efficient design of processes and equipment
Manage the asset risk register at functional level through EDARA by identification, investigation and providing suitable solution to reduce / mitigate the operation risk to ALARP level for the identified risk levels based on the existing procedures.
Lead and participate in major process / quality related investigation and troubleshooting
Lead the investigation/ troubleshooting of high severity actual or potential operational/ process safety events.
Projects Support
Ensure correct and consistent design practices and design philosophies are applied in the different stages of the assigned projects.
Ensure safe, economical and technically sound decisions are taken to meet the projects requirements and to meet Borouge’s business objectives.
Act as consultant in the screening and conceptual designs for different fields’ developments and growth/major projects (e.g. multi-billion project of Borouge 4).
Lead licensor evaluation and selection during the Pre-FEED/FEED stages
Support Process Design and Process Engineering, responsible for ensuring that design is HSE compliant, optimum, and meets operational requirements
Review technical documents during tendering of all project phases alongside with identifying the scope of work in the invitation to tender
Lead and participate in various Design Reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, PFD and P&ID Review, Value Engineering, SIL Analysis and 3D Model Review in the different phases of the project (Pre-FEED/FEED/EPC) to ensure the technical soundness of Process Design in the growth/major projects.
Initiate process chemical test runs and other process test runs related to the assigned projects, review test run risk rating and requirements for other business units and its impact on existing assets, and acts as test run responsible for the assigned test runs in accordance to the established test run procedure.
Operations Support
Provide the key technical support related to process technology for the safe and reliable operation of existing plants
Take responsibility as raw material owner for Catalyst and Process chemicals defining the appropriate raw material specification including the procurement support for auditing and approving new suppliers through the established raw material qualification process
Carry out optimization studies leading to increased safety and profitability of the assets
Lead and participate in new technologies evaluation to enhance the operability and reliability of the assets
Lead and participate in the new products / catalysts test runs
Lead and participate in new technologies evaluation, major process/ quality related investigation, and new products/catalysts test runs.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent Engineering
Fluency in English Language; written and oral
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
Minimum of 12 - 15 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas Industry, or Refinery sector in production operations, maintenance, project engineering / construction, shutdown management and materials management
Minimum of 5 years as Senior Process Engineer.
