DESCRIPTION
Flight Recorders Laboratory (FRL)
- Maintain and manage the operations of the Flight Recorders Laboratory (AD-FRL) in accordance with the vendor’s technical instructions and AAIS policies and procedures and maintain the AD-FRL data recovery equipment and software as per the manufacturer specifications,
- Manage the operation of the damaged flight recorders' data retrieval including the electronic board's recovery in collaboration with the flight recorder manufacturer
- Manage CVR audition sessions and transcribe the CVR audio recordings in coordination with the investigator-in-charge (IIC)
- Identify and develop recovery procedures for the various types of aircraft data recording devices and equipment (FMC, QAR, EHM, etc.)
- Establish and maintain imagery equipment and laboratory for the mechanical parts collected as investigation evidence and preserve the parts for further laboratory examinations (CT-scan, x-ray, and metallurgy, strength analysis, etc.)
- Participate in the planning, ,organizing and conducting of accident investigation drills and exercises, and provide the special equipment (drones, FARO scanner, ULB detectors, etc.) for testing and examination during the exercises
- Prepare research and studies in flight recorders laboratory in the air accident investigation field.
- Lead the “Flight Recorders Investigation Group” in major/complex accident investigations as assigned by the AAIS management.
- Provide data download and analysis for drones’ occurrences (upon request from other authorities), and prepare and submit Special Investigation Reports
- Collaborate with the experts/advisers from the manufacturer and other stakeholders for effective site investigation, data analysis, and laboratory examinations.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Establish and maintain the AD-FRL procedures as per the international standards and best practices
- Draft regulations related to flight recorders, investigation tools and equipment, accident
Air Accident/Incident Investigation
- Lead the “Flight Recorders Investigation Group” in major/complex accident investigations
- Provide technical support to the investigation team at the accident site
- Conduct investigations (as IIC) into general aviation accidents/serious incidents and large aircraft serious incidents/incidents
Reporting
- Ensure that all functional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet the GCAA requirements and quality standards.
- Produce graphical representation of the flight animations videos to simulate the accident/incident flight
- compose flight recorders’ factual/group(s) reports for the investigation Final Report in the factual information, pertaining analysis, conclusions, and safety recommendations relevant to the flight recorders and the downloaded data.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
University degree in a relevant discipline , or equivalent aviation technical qualification; and 5 years’ experience in a relevant environment or equivalent
