Role/ Department:


The Global Family & Private Investment Offices team (“GFO”) is a sales and client servicing group, within the Wealth Management division, specifically dedicated to supporting ultra-high net worth individuals and families (>$200m of investable assets), their charities and foundations. Given their wealth, these families act like institutions but require a personal and high touch approach, as well as the highest level of discretion. Our families wealth is mixed in nature with some being multi-generational inherited wealth and some being new entrepreneurial wealth. With the diversity of their investments, they often take a broad range of products and services from Northern Trust including asset servicing (custody), fiduciary, fund administration, investment management and banking/credit.


The individual will be responsible for consulting with complex Wealth Management clients to analyse and determine their implementation needs as they relate Northern Trust products. They will work with clients, investment managers and internal client service partners, as appropriate, to provide beginning-to-end implementation of product solutions. This will include initial and ongoing training and support of our online applications.


The individual will be responsible for supporting sales activity by generating customised and persuasive sales presentations or proposals, in response to enquiries from prospective or existing clients.  They will have in-depth knowledge of the NT products and act as a subject matter expert during sales presentations. 


The key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Consults with complex ultra-high net worth Wealth Management clients and prospects to analyse and determine the implementation requirements as they relate to the Northern Trust technology product suite
  • Works with relationship managers, prospects and clients to gain an understanding of the client needs and implement solutions accordingly. This may include facilitating custom production or system development requests
  • Serves as the implementation liaison between the client, relationship team and the production areas to communicate all online set up activities and advises the client service team on progress
  • Visits clients to develop understanding of their business, objectives and goals with regards to technology. Documents client calls and prepares status reports for management. Understands the broader market offering in order to provide comparisons with competitor solutions
  • Coordinates and participates in training presentations with clients or prospects, virtually or in person
  • Keeps abreast of new and existing bank products and services in order to meet the needs and experience of new and existing clients
  • Serve as voice of client for Product groups across Northern Trust as they develop and enhance new and existing online and digital delivery channel capabilities

Skills/ Qualifications:


  • Extensive experience in client service, particularly in the use of technology products/on-line tools
  • Understanding of the wealth market and technology requirements/solutions (e.g. FTP, swift, aggregation, data manipulation, reporting)
  • Ability to learn and understand technical products quickly
  • Experience in servicing client, flexible and adaptable to change. No two clients are the same
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills required along with strong small, medium and large scale in person presentation skill and comfort
  • Willingness to work and collaborate in team environments and with peers across Technology, Product and Client Service and Change Management groups
  • Note: travel will be required for this position when visiting assigned and new clients; could be international
