Senior Ports & Terminals Engineer to join the Ports and Terminals Business Unit in the Middle East, with a preferred home base in
Abu Dhabi office. Within Infrastructure one of Hatch’s primary business groups is our Ports and Terminals Business Unit (PT BU). Hatch has been executing port and marine terminal planning, design, procurement and construction services for over 30 years. We deliver port projects globally from our global port engineering teams across the USA, Canada, Abu Dhabi, Jakarta, Perth, Brisbane, and Cape Town, South Africa.
Our combined expertise includes every type of cargo including various dry bulks, containers, break-bulk, crude oil, LNG and automotive. We cover the full range of planning, design, permitting and Construction Management (CM) services from wharves and jetties, bulk cargo and container yards to inland rail, road and pipeline connections. With over 30 years of experience in the marine sector, we bring a proven track record of creative, efficient, and successful marine engineering design and project delivery to each of our projects.
As the successful candidate, you will be:
Leading work packages on projects and provide technical support and mentorship to graduates and junior resources in your areas of technical expertise Working directly with clients to oversee successful engagement delivery Winning new work and contributing to bids with other business sectors Available to travel to international project locations, but with a focus on the GCC Working in a dynamic team of Ports & Coastal Engineers and collaborate with other disciplines (Civil Infrastructure, Mechanical BMH, Dynamic Simulation, Controls and Instrumentation, Advisory etc.) or occasionally manage surveyors or field investigation contractors Responsible for executing and leading port and coastal engineering design tasks, including harbour basin, port layout and berth planning and designs, data gathering, site data analysis, metocean data analysis, and coastal engineering element designs Responsible for report writing on client engagements, whether technical notes on designs, sections of larger reports or complete study reports Working closely with other key expert teams on mining corridor studies to assist and define inputs to availability and downtimes for export volumes at the berth and port channels
You bring to the role:
15 years minimum working experience after obtaining your Post Graduate Degree in Ports and/or Coastal Engineering at a recognized tertiary institution Professional registration with a recognised professional council Experience in the field of ports and coastal engineering, such as the specialist sub-disciplines of port planning, terminal layout design, coastal engineering, coastal structures design, and ideally also berth structure design Experience in applying local and international applicable guidelines and standards such as CIRIA, CEM, PIANC, Eurocodes, British Standards, ANSI Experience in coordinating and leading studies Mentorship of younger engineers
