Professional Responsibility
- Take professional and legal responsibility for all aspects of own work, ensuring a high standard of clinical care for patients under own care, and support other team members to do likewise.
Specialist Assessment
- Conduct comprehensive, highly specialized physiotherapy assessments of patients, including those with the most complex presentations, using advanced investigative and analytical skills.
Treatment Selection
- Choose appropriate treatment techniques, including facilitation of normal movement, therapeutic handling, gait re-education, chest physiotherapy, etc.
Clinical Reasoning & Management
- Apply advanced clinical reasoning and a broad range of treatment skills to create individualized management and specialist treatment plans, involving the patient in decision-making where appropriate.
Ongoing Evaluation
- Continuously review and assess the patient’s condition during each physiotherapy session, modifying the treatment program as needed to achieve planned objectives.
Collaborative Practice
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for the patient.
Skill Consolidation
- Consolidate and maintain highly specialized skills in the assessment and treatment of the designated specialty area.
Patient & Caregiver Education
- Provide advice, teaching, and instruction to patients, relatives, and caregivers regarding medical management and care needs, promoting a consistent approach to patient care and fostering understanding of physiotherapy aims.
Effective Communication
- Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, addressing cultural, religious, and language barriers to maximize rehabilitation potential, ensure understanding of the condition, and address anxieties and concerns. Use communication skills such as persuasion, motivation, explanation, and informed consent across a diverse patient population.
Team Collaboration
- Function as a flexible member of the rehab team, maintaining effective communication with team members.
