Senior Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) ETL Developer

VAM Systems is currently looking for Senior Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) ETL Developer for our UAE operations with the following skillsets & terms and conditions:

Educational Background

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in:

• Computer Science
• Information Technology
• Data Science
• Business Intelligence
• Related disciplines

Experience and Professional Expertise

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing and managing ETL/ELT processes using ODI.
• Proven experience in implementing large-scale, end-to-end data integration projects, including:
  • Requirements gathering
  • Data modeling
  • Designing scalable ETL/ELT solutions.
• Experience in upgrading or migrating ODI environments (e.g., from ODI 11g to 12c).

Certifications (Optional but Advantageous)

• Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Certification
• Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate
• Certifications in data integration or related tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend) as complementary skills.

Technical Expertise

Core Expertise in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI):

• Proficiency in designing and implementing data integration solutions using ODI 12c or later versions.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Knowledge Modules (KM): Creating and customizing reusable components for data integration processes.
  • Mappings, Packages, and Scenarios: Designing complex data flows, workflows, and automating ETL processes.
  • Topology Configuration: Configuring physical and logical schemas, data servers, and agents.
• Expertise in ODI's ELT framework and knowledge of performance optimization techniques.
• Experience in error handling, reconciliation frameworks, and debugging ODI processes.

Database Skills:

• Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills for querying, transforming, and managing data.
• Deep knowledge of Oracle Database concepts, including:
  • Indexing, partitioning, and materialized views.
  • Query optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with other databases like SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL is advantageous.

Data Warehousing and ETL Concepts:

• In-depth understanding of:
  • Dimensional modeling (Star and Snowflake schemas).
  • Fact and dimension tables, surrogate keys, slowly changing dimensions (SCDs), and hierarchies.
  • Data profiling, data cleansing, and data validation practices.
• Hands-on experience in building and maintaining data warehouses and data lakes.

Integration and Data Sources:

• Experience with integrating various types of data sources, such as:
  • Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Flat files (CSV, XML, JSON)
  • APIs for real-time data integration.
• Familiarity with Big Data integration using ODI (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive).

Cloud and Modern Technologies (Optional but Beneficial):

• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW).
• Knowledge of ODI Marketplace for hybrid and cloud-based deployments.

Integration with cloud data platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google BigQuery

Soft Skills and Leadership

• Analytical Skills: Ability to understand complex data models and business requirements.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Debugging data integration issues and optimizing performance.
• Communication Skills: Effective in working with business stakeholders and translating their needs into technical solutions.
• Project Leadership: Leading ETL development efforts, mentoring junior developers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

 Additional Skills

Performance Optimization:

• Optimizing ETL workflows to handle high-volume data efficiently.
• Implementing ODI-specific performance enhancements like parallelism, bulk-loading, and tuning knowledge modules.

Scripting and Automation:

• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Shell for task automation.
• Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Scheduler, Cron jobs).

Security and Compliance:

• Experience in securing data integration workflows using ODI’s security features.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA.

Business Acumen

• Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Oracle Analytics Server, Tableau, or Power BI) to ensure data readiness for reporting.
• Understanding of industry-specific data requirements (e.g., financial, healthcare, or retail sectors).
