The role is expected to be a key role in our Engineering Business Group working in collaboration with all the other UAE business groups. The role will be a design / project manager working closely with business groups, project directors and engineers/architects on a range of small to large projects.


We expect the successful candidate to have a brand of excellence in design management and be able to demonstrate top class delivery. A key purpose of this role is to ensure design and BIM model coordination is achieved across projects in the office. 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical expertise
  • Establish and maintain strong and effective relationships with Clients
  • Position the business for opportunities and oversee the development and submission of proposals with a high success rate.
  • Secure, schedule and manage workload for the Business Group.
  • Provide leadership to the Service Group in line with GHD’s values, purpose, goals and objectives
  • Ensure that the Group has the materials and resources necessary to deliver quality service and documentation
  • Develop and agree job work packages, budgets, and progress with Project managers and Project Directors and ensure project teams have role, scope and budget clarity.
  • Manage the allocation of people to projects in agreement with the Project managers and Project Directors
  • Build effective relationships with other GHD offices
  • Mentor graduate professionals within the business
  • Consistently enhancing the profile of the business in the market
  • Sustainable growth of the Group’s revenues
  • Ensure the Design quality and technical soundness of work produced by the Group
  • Management of projects to budgets
  • Manage and mitigate risk within the Service Group
  • Ensure compliance with the EMS standards

Qualifications:


  • Bachelors qualified with relevant Mechanical or Electrical degree. PMI or APM certification is desirable..
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in building services design, 5 years of which must be in a Project/Design Management role. 
  • Solid design experience from concept through to construction, across a range of project types including residential, commercial, hospitality, medical, leisure, education and high-rise developments.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of stakeholders, including senior management, clients and various departments.
  • Experience working with project teams for reviewing design deliverables of design projects, including conducting detailed reviews and checks and the issuance of checking reports.
  • Proven track record of delivering multidisciplinary design projects, on time and within budget, in a variety of industries.
  • Wide experience in preparing design briefs, fee proposals and negotiating contracts with both subcontractors / sub consultants 
  • Middle East experience and working knowledge of design and construction practices specific to this region.
  • High work performance and excellent people skills.
