SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The Senior Institutional Effectiveness Officer (SIEO) is responsible for the overall success of the Unit of Assessment and Effectiveness at OIPE. As a senior-level professional, the SIEO will lead and promote a culture of effective assessment and evidence-based continuous improvement throughout the institution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and successfully operated the Unit of Assessment and Effectiveness to achieve its targets, ensuring that all activities are aligned with the strategic goals of the institution.
- Champion the establishment of a culture of evidence-based assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement across all academic and non-academic units of the University, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Develop and implement training and professional development programs for faculty and staff in areas related to institutional effectiveness.
- Organize and lead assessment workshops for academic units, utilizing best practices to enhance understanding of new processes for continuous quality improvement and closing the loop.
- Oversee and review annual effectiveness reports from all colleges for all academic programs, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Research and provide information on benchmarking and best practices in institutional effectiveness, and develop strategies to implement these practices at the institution.
- Conduct feedback surveys for academic and non-academic units of AU to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive plans for educational outcomes assessment, ensuring that all programs are aligned with the institution's goals and objectives.
- Assess the suitability of the needs assessment for new academic programs, and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Prepare the Annual Report, all survey reports, corrective/improvement action reports, and Institutional Assessment and Effectiveness Summary Report.
- Audit course files for all programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate IEC and APC meetings.
- Prepare responses to ERT reports related to assessment and effectiveness as per the CAA deadlines, ensuring that all responses are accurate and comprehensive.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Executive Director of OIPE.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor degree with at least five years’ experience in assessment and effectiveness reporting.
- A proven track record of managing institutional effectiveness projects.
- Experience of working with senior academics.
- Experience of working diligently to achieve targets while abiding by the specified deadlines.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- In-depth knowledge of assessment practices for continuous improvement, with experience of implementing best practices in an institutional setting.
- Expertise in determining and enhancing institutional effectiveness, with experience of developing and implementing strategies to improve institutional performance.
- Ability to rapidly assimilate information and take control of a project, working to a very tight deadline, with excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience of producing high-quality reports and presentations for senior-level stakeholders.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues, including senior-level colleagues.
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent IT skills, including word processing, data analysis, and database management.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- The position may entail work after duty hours, on weekends, holidays and in emergency (i.e. may be subject to “on-call” responsibilities).
SUPERVISION:
Reports to: The Executive Director of OIPE
Working Relationships & Subordinates: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
