Overview of the Role
To take the lead in preparing the pricing element of tenders, target costs and VE exercises on major / large tenders.
What you will dp?
- Work with the Bid or Work Winning Manager, developing the tender strategy and managing the financial submission;
- Thorough study of Tender documents in order to capture Project scope;
- Contributing to risk assessment and ensuring all risks are included within the tender;
- Assuring accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance of tender rates;
- Close liaison with procurement department in order to ensure that correct scope have been disseminated to supply chain;
- Leading and supporting VE exercises and target costs;
- Contribution to the submission document and Contract Documentation;
- Supporting the Bid / Work Winning Manager in bid negotiations;
- Maintenance of reliable tendering databases;
- Preparation of budgets/cost plans for Clients through top down pricing;
- Where appropriate, managing and developing staff.
- Identifies ways to reduce cost and improve service. Manages variable costs
- Ensure that all relevant safety, quality and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety, quality of services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed within AFC;
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of process and practices taking into account, the interests and benefits to Al Futtaim and its employees.
Skills
Required Skills to be successful
- Highly skilled in using Estimating software incl. excel;
- Can present complex tenders at adjudication to the SMT in a clear and concise manner;
- Can train and develop an estimating team in terms of estimating and the related processes;
- Able to lead & direct the preparation of several concurrent estimates or lead & direct the pricing on a major project including JV’s;
- Use and apply labour and plant outputs from the database and guide others in the team;
- Able to develop outputs from data and derive new outputs from proposed programme and construction methodology;
- Able to identify risks, compile risk registers, and incorporate in tenders. Being able to run through risk management tools such as Monte Carlo;
- Natural ability to focus on customer service / customer requirements;
- Ability to negotiate effectively and make commercially appropriate decisions;
- Ability to think analytically, and an aptitude for creative thinking;
- A proven ability to be able to communicate at all levels (written, oral, presentation skills);
- Good organizational skills, and able to manage and prioritize resources;
What qulaifies you for the role?
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:
- A civil engineering degree & professional qualification is preferred;
- Must have a good understanding of construction contracts;
- Good knowledge of different construction methodologies;
- Fully understands price implications of taxes, bonds, warranties and guarantees and other local legislation;
- Detailed knowledge of Risk Analysis & management tools;
- Good understanding of safety legislation and practice and ensure that the pricing reflects good practice.
Minimum Experience:
- A civil engineering degree & professional qualification is preferred;
- Must have a good understanding of construction contracts;
- Good knowledge of different construction methodologies;
- Fully understands price implications of taxes, bonds, warranties and guarantees and other local legislation;
- Detailed knowledge of Risk Analysis & management tools;
- Good understanding of safety legislation and practice and ensure that the pricing reflects good
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years relevant experience
- A commercial or operational background in the construction industry and experience as an estimator or cost planner.
