Job Description

The Senior Estimation Engineer – Civil plays a crucial role in the construction and building industry, particularly in the context of large-scale projects. This position requires a highly experienced professional who can accurately assess project costs and provide detailed estimates to ensure financial feasibility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil engineering and extensive experience in estimation processes, enabling them to contribute significantly to project planning and execution.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
  2. Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine the scope of work and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  3. Collaborate with project managers and architects to develop accurate project budgets and timelines.
  4. Review and evaluate subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
  5. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential financial impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
  6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods to enhance estimation accuracy.
  7. Prepare and present detailed reports on cost estimates to stakeholders, including clients and management.
  8. Assist in the development of project schedules and resource allocation plans.
  9. Mentor junior estimation engineers and provide guidance on best practices in cost estimation.
  10. Participate in project meetings and provide input on financial aspects of project planning.

Preferred Candidate:

  1. Proven experience in civil engineering estimation with a minimum of 10 years in the construction industry.
  2. Strong analytical and mathematical skills to ensure precise cost calculations.
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
  4. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  5. Proficiency in estimation software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  7. Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  8. Experience in risk management and financial analysis related to construction projects.
  9. Leadership qualities to guide and mentor junior staff effectively.
  10. A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
