KBR is looking for Senior Construction Manager to be based in– Abu Dhabi Site.


Summary: The ideal candidate would be an experienced Engineer with formal qualifications and would have the following key skills:


  • To review, endorse, supervise, coordinate and manage the overall construction activities of the projects.

Duties Performed:


Reviews and endorse all Projects construction plans issued by the EPC Contractors Extensively participate in all Risk assessment workshops, Constructability reviews, 3D models, transportation and site delivery procedures/ plans as well as endorse construction Task Risk Assessments. Directs and supervises the overall construction activities and provides guidance and expertise to the Construction Team and EPC Contractors. Acts as a communication link between plants divisions and the Consultant/ Contractor to resolve any interface problems. Coordinates with other Projects to ensure continuity of works under his control. Ensures that all Company codes, regulations, and engineering practices as well as particular project specifications are adhered to by consultants, contractors and their employees. Liaise with Civil/Marine/ Instrument/Electrical/Mechanical sections within Das Divisions and Departments. Monitor the construction activities to ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental policy, procedures, and standards, Permit to Work Manual, and Waste Disposal manual. Carry out Advanced Safety Audits (ASA’s) on a regular basis to confirm and/or determine the contractors understanding of their safety awareness and responsibilities.  Provides opportunities for training and development of employees under his direction (with emphasis on UAE Nationals) and assesses their progress, this includes on-the-job-training, counselling and proper work delegation. Provide required assistance and guidance to the Project Commissioning Team during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of Projects. Liaise the rectification of any warranty defect items of new facilities with the EPC Contractors and plant divisions. Collect and participate all construction related Lessons Learned from various projects and ensure improvements of construction methods in future projects. Reviews and endorses Engineering and Construction Contractor’s invoices for payment.


  • Controls the implementation of operational methods and procedures of Project Management and coordination. Recommends any required changes/modifications to the methods and procedures controlling the Division’s/ Department’s operations.

Ensures implementation of all Lessons Learned and Projects Risk areas from previous and ongoing Projects are systematically captured within Projects and database as part of overall Knowledge Management initiative.


Reviews and approves as appropriate, requests to develop processes and standard tools to meet the needs of the Projects Department, and other requests for changes to standard processes, procedures, systems, or tools by the Project Teams.


Plans, directs and manages the overall operation of the Construction & Brownfield Projects in Projects Division; and performs managerial functions at the levels established by the Company.


Directs the overall management and execution of assigned Projects.  This includes small, medium and Major Projects. Proactively support the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and Project Management Team (PMT) including Project Managers/ Senior Project Engineers and Project Team with the resources required to execute the work efficiently. Audits the execution performance of the Projects to maintain control over Project’s schedule & budget. Monitors performance of EPC Contractors and makes necessary recommendations for corrective action to Management & Shareholders. Review Contractors and Consultants capabilities and carryout prequalification of new Contractors/Consultants and issue recommendation for Management approval prior to engagements of new Contractors/Consultants. Lead prequalification of tenderers, deal with queries during the bid phase, participate in bid evaluation, carries out pre-award contract review and negotiations for main Engineering and Construction contracts together with other concerned parties and submits recommendation accordingly. Manage the pre-award phase including preparation of initial Bidders list, Technical Evaluation Criteria, Technical Evaluation Reports and recommendations for award of various new schemes and Projects. Reviews and endorses Engineering and Construction Contractor’s invoices for payment. Controls the implementation of operational methods and procedures of Project Management and coordination. Recommends any required changes/modifications to the methods and procedures controlling the Division’s/ Department’s operations. Ensures implementation of all Lessons Learned and Projects Risk areas from previous and ongoing Projects are systematically captured within Projects and database as part of overall Knowledge Management initiative. Assures the safety of personnel and equipment through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations and maintains the attitude that all accidents are preventable.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Degree in Engineering preferably with Project management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • 25+ years’ experience in Oil and Gas Industry related construction works of which at least 5 years must be at a senior level in construction of Gas Processing Plants.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent functional knowledge and experience of all aspects of project management.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance International Codes and Standards.
  • Good leadership, negotiation and influencing skill.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skill.
  • Good working knowledge of PC and presentation skills.
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English.
