About the Team

Careem Grocery is on a mission to reinvent the way people shop for grocery, pharmacy and retail products. As an exciting new vertical within Careem (a startup within a startup), we’re in the early stages of building our product and have plenty of interesting and fundamental challenges to solve in order to achieve our ambitious growth goals in this burgeoning space.


What you’ll do

As a Sr Category Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving our strategies on assortment by defining our selection by store and working with other teams on sourcing, pricing and promotions across our markets. This is a unique role with the opportunity to create genuine impact for the lives of everyday people in our region. 


 


We’re looking for someone  with experience in restaurants or large scale kitchens/bakery in managing daily operations and preparing a range of bakery and ready to eat meal products 


 


Responsible for 


Set up and run the central cloud kitchen, in preparing and making bread, cakes, and other baked goods


Ensure accurate control over the ordering of raw materials and their respective sections


Supervise all kitchen sections to ensure efficiency and quality


Identify key consumer trends in online grocery /Q-commerce business and decide the assortment for bakery, pastry and ready to eat categories 


Strive to continuously update and maintain assortment strategies to reflect market trends, local needs and preferences based on data-driven analysis


Collaborate with various functions including commercial, supply chain and store operations teams to ensure end-to-end quality control and management of the products 


Hire and train the required staffs for the cloud kitchen


 


What you’ll need

Successful candidates will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer centricity, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose. 


 


  • At least 6+ years of experience in running a kitchen or a restaurant with deep expertise in baking 
  • Expertise in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Proven experience managing kitchen staff and inventory.
  • Creativity in menu and recipe design.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification (preferred)
