Job Summary:
The Senior Car Electrician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems in vehicles. This role requires advanced technical skills, knowledge of modern vehicle systems, and the ability to handle complex diagnostics with efficiency and accuracy. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a wide range of vehicles and be committed to providing high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Diagnostics & Repair
- Diagnose electrical issues in various vehicle systems, including engine management, lighting, HVAC, transmission, and infotainment systems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, schematics, and service manuals to identify and solve complex electrical problems accurately.
- Conduct repairs on a range of electrical systems, including wiring, sensors, actuators, control modules, and battery management systems.
Inspection & Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine electrical inspections to ensure vehicle systems function correctly and meet safety standards.
- Recommend preventive maintenance to avoid potential electrical issues and prolong vehicle life.
System Calibration & Programming
- Program and calibrate advanced vehicle systems, including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), ECU (Engine Control Unit), and BCM (Body Control Module).
- Update and install software and firmware as required by vehicle manufacturers.
Troubleshooting Complex Issues
- Apply problem-solving skills to complex and unusual electrical problems.
- Provide guidance to junior technicians and assist in more challenging diagnostics and repairs.
Customer Interaction
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain electrical issues and repairs performed on their vehicles.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing professional and efficient service.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete detailed service reports, documenting all diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance performed on vehicles.
- Maintain records of parts used and time taken for each job to ensure accurate billing and service history.
Adherence to Safety Standards
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment, especially when working with high-voltage systems in hybrid and electric vehicles.
- Stay updated with safety standards and best practices for handling automotive electrical systems.
