The Turnaround & Restructuring team works with healthy, under-performing and distressed companies across a variety of urgent, high impact situations. The team helps our clients navigate periods of change or growth and deliver significant improvement in business performance and enterprise value by providing hands on expert level support and advice.


Our team offers financial, operational, and commercial insights to special situations in order to deliver significant improvement to both balance sheet and P&L. We aim to create, protect and recover value by understanding the key business and organizational challenges or growth objectives, identifying tailored solutions, and supporting in the implementation of change and restructuring initiatives to drive a successful outcome.


Ankura’s EMEA T&R practice launched in 2021 with the recruitment of a group of senior practitioners from a variety of industry-leading firms. This team complements 300+ restructuring professionals globally and a further 2,000 professionals across the wider Ankura business. With ambitious growth aspirations, we are recruiting an experienced and driven Senior Associate to join our team in the Middle East and are looking for someone who is entrepreneurially minded and wants to progress their career in the operational turnaround and corporate restructuring market.


Role Overview


Suitable candidates for this position will have a strong suite of consulting, performance improvement, financial restructuring, and hands-on experience.


Responsibilities: 


  • Preparation of robust financial and cash flow projections; preparation of relevant company analysis for clients or management


  • Application of various financial analysis skills in a wide variety of client and industry environments; financial modelling, company analysis, preparation / assessment of business plans and due diligence


  • Support in the development of business strategy for turnaround and profitability improvement, reorganizations, contingency planning or alternative solutions


  • Significant client interaction at multiple levels. Preparation of and participation in management presentation and new business presentations


  • Exceptional communication abilities along with an ability to provide detailed but clear analysis and presentations when required including new client pitches


Requirements:  


  • A degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Engineering or equivalent.


  • Experience gained, preferably with a mix of consulting / advisory and industry experience gained in Big 4, boutique advisory house or a strategy house.


  • Experience in Financial Restructuring, Performance Improvement and Value Creation and Operational Restructuring / Transformation, or either of these


  • Delivering transformation, turnaround and restructuring programs across multiple markets and industries.


  • Demonstrable experience of developing business plans, financial projections, and identifying / implementing restructuring solutions.


  • Experience of working with clients and / or advisory firms and supporting the identification and implementation of levers to improve performance. Including but not limited to - cost reduction, organization health & redesign, supply chain & procurement, growth strategies and market analysis, cash and working capital management and optimization, manufacturing optimization, PMI and carve-outs, process mapping and redesign and strategic business planning.


  • Deep understanding of business issues and the ability to communicate them effectively to team leaders and clients.


  • Willingness to build professional and personal growth by working in high-impact situations under time-pressure.


  • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills along with strong financial literacy and modelling skills.


  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and executive-level presentation skills.


  • Fluency in English is essential. Arabic is a plus.


  • Willingness to travel as unique projects/needs arise.
