The Senior Account Director will play a critical leading role in a 160/90 team working for a major client on their Global Partnerships portfolio. You will be working with an international business operating in multiple markets and will form part of the Partnerships function across the client account, working collaboratively within an integrated client team including Creative, Strategy and PR & Comms that spans 160over90’s London, New York, Charlotte, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Sydney and Singapore offices. 


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities


Client-Servicing


  • Acting as day-to-day client delivery lead across Europe, demonstrating excellent people skills and aptitude for understanding, identifying and empathising with client requirements and responding with solutions


  • Develop a deep understanding of the clients, as individuals and as a business, in order to help shape strategy, activation and ways of working that meet their key objectives


  • Play a key role in the strategy, planning, activation and evaluation of partnerships across the client’s partnership portfolio


  • Working hand-in-hand with global client account teams to ensure consistency across messaging and approach to campaign and activation development and delivery


  • Engage with client’s senior leadership team in a confident and professional manner, providing support and POVs as required


Resource/Team Management


  • Efficiently manage a team working on the account to ensure client needs are met and direct reports are supported and developing


  • Includes 2 Direct Reports: 1 Account Manager and 1 Account Executive


Partnership Management


  • Build and maintain strong relationships and regular dialogue with relevant rights holders, ambassadors, key stakeholders, other agencies across the client’s partnership portfolio


  • Day-to-day focus will be on client’s partnerships across Golf, Cricket, Formula 1 and Sailing (with potential for others)


  • Additional opportunities to work on local partnerships


  • Demonstrate clear understanding of partnership contracts and rights and ability to ensure contractual assets are managed and delivered


  • Liaise with partners as a representative of the client and excel at fostering solid relations between agency and brand and getting the best out of all collaborations


  • Ability to work with partner and client to get the most out of contractual rights with a good ability to negotiate changes required 


Campaign/Activation Management


  • Lead on planning and execution of European partnership campaigns and events executions in line with the clients global partnerships strategy and approach


  • Lead on critical path planning, budgeting, client and team management – develop and manage season plans (including global strategy and campaign) activation plans, recap documents, recurring client reporting and analysis


  • Working collaboratively with PR & Comms and Creative functions across the globe to deliver fully integrated client campaign outputs


  • Lead on end-to-end event delivery and experiences aligned to partnership activations


Business/Industry Knowledge


  • Ability to quickly absorb and immerse in client business, category and specific challenges


  • Demonstrate an acute understanding of the relevance and impact of sports and other partnerships


  • Show a clear understanding of relevant sports or partnerships landscapes and an ability to communicate recommendations to the client accordingly 


  • Show a robust understanding of evaluation and reporting practices to measure sport partnership performance


Knowledge and Experience


  • Minimum of 8 years relevant global agency, or client-based experience, with a focus on B2C activation


  • Proven multi-year team management experience (managing 3 or more team members)


  • Specific experience in amplifying sport partnerships; working closely with rights holders


  • Experience and/or knowledge of partnerships as a platform to reach B2B audiences an advantage


  • Knowledge and expertise across a variety of sports


  • Ability to travel and work weekends


Skills and Abilities


  • Strong understanding of how to build a client relationship and understand their business needs


  • Demonstrable experience in developing and leading the delivery of successful client sports partnerships within global, cross functional teams


  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of client-service deliverables through critical path planning and resource management to maintain high quality output


  • Proficiency in writing client proposals and presentations with insight driven strategy and clear creative thinking


  • Natural communication skills to inspire and nurture a team whilst maintaining agency culture


  • Track record of developing creative ideas and content to deliver against client objectives


  • Organised and detail oriented in a fast-paced, global, client service environment


  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices


  • Experience in managing team of mid-level and junior team members


  • Excellent time management, written and oral communication skills


  • Strong understanding of regional cultural landscape


  • Proven track record of increasing client spend, identifying new business opportunities and networking


  • Excellent copy writing - Draft client proposals and pitch documents with accuracy and insight; Manage team development in terms of copy writing and plan drafting
