Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher (Emirati) to join our team, focusing on Cycle 2 and 3 students (Grades 5-12) for reputed school in Al Ain. The ideal candidate will be an Emirati national with a strong background in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN). This role involves working closely with students who have a variety of learning challenges, disabilities, and needs, and providing them with tailored educational support. The SEN Teacher will create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to support academic growth and help students overcome challenges, both inside and outside the classroom.
The successful candidate will work within an inclusive classroom environment, helping students access the curriculum, ensuring their academic and emotional well-being, and providing extra support as needed.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in Education with Specialisation in SEN, OR ADEK Teaching Diploma + Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in the UAE, preferably within the American Curriculum
- Emirati National (required)
- ADEK Approval (preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualised Learning Plans: Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN, focusing on their specific learning needs and goals.
- Support for SEN Students: Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with learning difficulties, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their academic potential.
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt lesson plans and materials to cater to the diverse needs of SEN students, ensuring they can participate fully in class activities.
- Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with general education teachers, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to create an inclusive learning environment and ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, supportive, and structured classroom environment that meets the needs of SEN students and promotes effective learning.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor students’ progress, adjusting learning plans and strategies accordingly.
- Parental Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents to discuss students' progress, challenges, and ways to further support their learning both at school and at home.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of students' assessments, progress, and any interventions implemented.
- Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed of best practices in SEN education and implement new strategies for student support.
- Extracurricular Support: Where appropriate, engage students in extracurricular activities or support them in school events, providing additional assistance if needed.
- Behavioural Support: Address behavioural challenges that may arise from learning difficulties, ensuring a positive and respectful environment for all students.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with Specialisation in SEN or ADEK Teaching Diploma + Bachelor's degree (required).
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a SEN role, ideally within the UAE and working with Cycle 2 and 3 students (Grades 5-12).
- Emirati National (required).
- ADEK Approval or appointment letter (preferred).
- Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and proven experience in implementing IEPs and differentiated teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, staff, and parents effectively.
- Patience, compassion, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Ability to create a supportive learning environment and promote the academic, social, and emotional development of SEN students.
- Proficient in Arabic (preferred), with strong communication skills in English (required).
- Knowledge of the American Curriculum or other international curricula is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with various SEN conditions (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities).
- Familiarity with assistive technology and other resources that support students with learning difficulties.
- Experience working within an inclusive classroom and promoting diversity.
