Job Description

The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a number of line maintenance teams and First Line Response Technicians to provide effective engineering and maintenance services covering passenger trains, on track plants and depot equipment for Dubai Metro.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead and give guidance to a number of Rolling Stock, On Track Plant & Depot Equipment engineering and maintenance teams in carrying out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and modifications.
  • Plan and allocate resources to all aspects of maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis
  • Supervise routine and specialist vehicle inspections, inspecting parts for surface defects,changing of consumable items, perform minor repairs.
  • Supervise train overhauls, major repairs, fault investigation and corrective maintenance; Give guidance to Rolling Stock Team Leader and Depot Equipment Team Leader on the testing of functional performance of electromechanical assemblies using various test instruments, replace, install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, align, fit, and assemble component parts, using electronics tools, hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates, and microscopes.
  • Supervise the operations of metalworking machines, repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems, verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications and to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
  • Perform time sensitive fault diagnostics and component replacement (repair in situ or inside depot) on the rolling stock.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly, analyse and record test results, and prepare written testing documentation. Follow the appropriate maintenance procedures and instructions, operating procedures and instructions to ensure compliance with the required requirements.
  • Supervise wheel re-profiling of the rolling stock annually or as required using under-floor wheel lathe.
  • Perform train overhaul at defined interval by inspecting and repairing major components and systems.
  • Carry out 24-hour on-call responsibility for incidents and emergency within its section.
  • Lead Rolling Stock Team Leaders and Depot Equipment Team Leaders in understanding and servicing of complex or new equipment.
  • Assist the Fleet Manager or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects; Give guidance to Rolling Stock Maintenance Team Leaders and Depot Equipment Team Leaders to maintain accurate maintenance records of rolling stock, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Implement and follow safe access process.
  • Carry out competence assessment of Rolling Stock Team Leaders and Depot Equipment Team Leaders following appropriate competencies.
  • Perform the role of Key Instructor to conduct relevant training courses.
  • Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
  • Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
  • Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Fleet Manager.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED


  • Deep knowledge in maintaining and repairing car body, bogies and suspension, couplers and draft gears, operators control, propulsion system, friction brakes, batteries, auxiliary power supply and electrical equipment, car doors and doors control, ventilation and air-conditioning components, train control and monitoring system for rolling stock is essential.

KEY SKILLS


  • Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision.
  • Strong technical mind, and ability to grasp the complexity of inner workings of rolling stock, on track plants and depot equipment.
  • Ability to use and calibrate various electrical, electronic and mechanical test equipment and PC for the maintenance of rolling stock, on track plants and depot equipment.
  • Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
  • Ability to minimize the environmental impact relates to the maintenance work of rolling stock,on track plants and depot equipment.
  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Preferably holder of a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience.

EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum 5 years work experience in maintaining and repairing rolling stock, on track plant or depot equipment is essential.
  • Minimum with 3 year of supervisory and management experience leading a line maintenance team servicing and repairing rolling stock.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFCATION


  • Ideally a degree holder or high diploma in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent.
