Job Summary:
The Senior Resident Engineer will be responsible for the on-site supervision and management of strategic construction projects in Abu Dhabi. This role involves overseeing a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, contract managers, inspectors, HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) officers, and QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) personnel. The Senior Resident Engineer will ensure project delivery aligns with the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, while meeting budget and schedule requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the site supervision and overall execution of strategic construction projects.
- Manage and coordinate a large team of engineers from various disciplines (civil, structural, MEP, etc.), as well as planners, contract managers, HSE officers, and QA/QC engineers.
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with the approved designs, technical specifications, and contract requirements.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are adhered to.
- Conduct regular site inspections and lead technical meetings with the contractor, client, and project team.
- Provide leadership in resolving design and construction issues, including unforeseen site conditions, design changes, and coordination conflicts.
- Ensure that health and safety regulations are followed on-site, working closely with HSE teams to maintain a safe working environment.
- Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes, ensuring that all materials and workmanship meet specified standards.
- Review and approve contractor submissions, including shop drawings, material approvals, and method statements.
- Collaborate with contract managers to monitor and manage project costs, claims, and variations.
- Provide regular progress reports to the client and company management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in construction supervision, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Proven experience managing large teams on high-profile construction projects.
- Excellent knowledge of construction processes, materials, and relevant codes and standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Experience in contract management, cost control, and project planning.
- Familiarity with HSE regulations and QA/QC procedures.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is preferred.
