KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assist in the development of new food products by conducting experiments, performing tests, and following established protocols.
Collaborate with Plant team and Quality to create and refine product formulations, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Conduct sensory evaluations and taste tests to assess the flavor, texture, and overall acceptability of food prototypes.
Prepare and process food samples for analysis, including measuring and weighing ingredients, operating laboratory equipment, and documenting observations.
Collect and analyze data generated during experiments, interpreting results, and drawing conclusions to inform product development decisions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, production, and quality assurance, to ensure successful implementation of new products and processes.
Conduct literature reviews and stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to food product development.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and any modifications made during the R&D process.
Assist in scaling up laboratory-developed recipes and processes for pilot and commercial production, addressing any technical challenges that arise.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to product quality, stability, or performance through laboratory testing and analysis.
Contribute to the optimization of existing products by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, ingredient substitution, or process improvement.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas for new product concepts and improvements to existing product lines.
Maintain a clean and organized working environment, including proper storage and disposal of materials, ingredients, and equipment.
Shall Handle successfully any other Assignments given by Quality Manager.
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations in the R&D room and production areas.
Ensure kitchen staff follow the correct recipe with correct cooking parameters.
Responsible for escalating any captured Food safety violation to FS/QA Supervisor and Quality Manager to make sure Production doesn't resume without approval from Quality Manager.
Collaborate with Quality and production in investigations related to customer complaints and ensure the corrective actions are addressed and effectively implemented by concerned departments. Share the investigation results with Quality Manager.
Responsible for creating a safe working environment to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of staff working during R&D product development.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in food technology or any related field.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on quality and food safety experience in food manufacturing and/or catering with 3 years in R&D.
Very good knowledge of HACCP/ISO 22000 Food Safety Management systems.
Having knowledge and understanding of local standards and regulatory requirements in UAE.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Proficient computer skills and data analysis.
Initiative-taking, results orientated and excellent personal skills.
Highly motivated and works under high pressure load.
Having a background in Health & Safety is an added advantage.
