Role Overview:
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will drive B2B sales and expand the company's client base within the tobacco industry across the assigned region. This role focuses on acquiring new clients, building distribution partnerships, and managing key accounts to achieve sales targets. The RSM will develop regional sales strategies, maintain strong relationships with distributors/retail partners, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure our tobacco products reach the market effectively and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development: Identify and acquire new clients in the tobacco sector, such as wholesalers, distributors, and large retail accounts. Proactively seek out partnership opportunities to expand product distribution in the region.
- Account Management: Manage and grow relationships with existing B2B clients and distribution partners. Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, addressing their needs, providing product support, and ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Sales Strategy & Targets: Develop and execute a regional sales plan in line with overall business objectives. Set regional sales targets and quotas, and create strategies to meet or exceed these targets. Adjust tactics based on market feedback and sales performance.
- Negotiation & Contracts: Negotiate terms of partnerships, sales agreements, and distributor contracts. Work closely with legal and management to finalize agreements that maximize product availability while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Market Analysis: Monitor tobacco industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities in the region. Use market intelligence to identify emerging opportunities or risks, and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
- Reporting & Forecasting: Track sales performance metrics and prepare regular reports for senior management. Forecast sales volumes and revenue for the region, providing insights into pipeline and expected growth.
- Compliance: Ensure all sales and distribution activities comply with local regulations, especially given the tobacco industry’s strict laws on marketing, packaging, and sales. Educate distributors and retailers on compliance requirements (e.g. health warnings, age restrictions) and ensure company policies are upheld.
- Travel: Willingness to travel within the assigned region (and occasionally internationally) to meet clients, attend industry events, and oversee market operations.
