We are looking for an Operations & Training Superintendent to be responsible for overseeing marine operations and training of the Svitzer AMEA fleet. Reporting to the Regional Marine Manager, you will utilise your operational expertise to promote, measure and improve the competency level of key crew within the region, focusing on operational excellence and continuity. This is a rotational based position, and you may be deployed to any of the countries within the AMEA region as required.

Your key responsibilities will be:
Responsible for developing and improving existing training programs.
Perform simulator or onboard assessment of new masters prior to full employment.
Provide operational and handling training via simulator or onboard as designated in Svitzer training Matrix.
Assist countries Operations Managers by conducting Command assessments, (sample) and review assessments completed by Operations managers and advising on the level of competency required.
Providing recruitment, training, assessment, and familiarization training as well as operational support during the start-up phase of contracts.
Assist the crewing department by assessing CVs and conducting interviews and subsequently choosing the correct candidates for employment.
Perform pre-employment assessment: Simulator or onboard assessment of new masters prior to full employment.
Ensure adherence to all regional operational procedures and work practices.
Ensure that all employees of the region understand and adhere to Svitzer guidelines and policies.
Continuously drive operational excellence and customer focused solutions in terms of timely, reliable and safe service.
Develop and maintain excellent relationships with local management, crews employed on each site, customers and other stakeholders and authorities.
Promote an unrivalled security and safety environment in the Regional Svitzer organization, making Safety and Security a competitive advantage for Svitzer (“Do it Safely or Not at All”).
Promote an industry-leading safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety and operational procedures, work practice and policies, assisting Marine standards as required
Assist the Regional Marine Manager to drive cost efficiency in all administrative, operational and technical expenditure.
Provide operational and training support to the Technical Regional team with regards to M&R spend and dockings (every 5 years) when required.
Implement best practice standards for finance and operations, as communicated by Svitzer Group and/or AMEA Region.
Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements for the local operation.
Ensure that vessels are manned and equipped according to legal requirements and Svitzer standards for relevant operational activities.
The Operation and Training Superintendent will be expected to travel extensively to each port throughout the AMEA region. It is envisaged he will remain on board where the operation permits and work on a daily basis within the rules of the working time directive when remaining on board is unachievable.
The Operation and Training Superintendent will conduct a peer review of the individual with a view to assisting the masters where necessary in accomplishing any operational items from the on-board assessment which have not been achieved.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A background in Harbour towage training
MUST be in possession of a valid Masters CoC and be an experienced Tug Master with specific experience on ASD tugs in the Harbour Towage environment
Ability to work in a multi-cultural team
Tertiary qualifications in relevant marine management
Strong business acumen
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the capability to deal with people at a broad range of levels
High level of professionalism, honesty and integrity
Remain flexible and be willing to travel to any of our operations throughout AMEA.
