REFINERY ENGINEER
SUPPLY TRADING & PROCESSING
Ensures safe, sustained and efficient operation of the Refinery during the shift. Ensures that there is no quality give away and the plant operates in the most economical manner with the optimum use of utilities and chemicals. Ensures that yields are optimized as per the planning requirements and the on-stream availability is maximized. Maintains data, Reports and Log Books for future reference
• Oversees/coordinates laboratory activities during the evening/night shift and during the Holidays in sorting out issues regarding samples and any other requirements and emergencies.
• Verifies line ups for internal as well as transfers to external agencies like EPPCO/ship, coordinates various steps like transfer, finalizing, communication, documentation etc.
• Coordinates for receipt and quality check of chemicals during shifts.
• Plans, schedules and coordinates maintenance jobs. Ensures necessary documentation. In the absence of maintenance supervisors oversees maintenance related jobs
• Ensures that the quality of effluent discharge meets all environmental regulations. Ensures that all other EHS regulations, policies are complied with on his shift
• Maintains high standards of discipline and strict adherence to procedures.
• Coordinates the receipt of raw material (condensate) and the despatch of products. Plans and executes the certification of products.
• Prepares on behalf of ESTC and EIL, Documentation for the Export parcels and is the signing authority for the same.
• All operating procedures and special procedures are written, reviewed and implemented. Ensures that the Operators are complying with the Review requirements of the procedures.
• Participates in Hazard Assessment of critical jobs, Hazop analysis and safety committee meeting.
• Follows up on the pending jobs while performing as Operations co-ordinator with the respective Departments.
• Follows on the daily requirements of the operation department, with stores, Liaisons with the planning and marketing Department on the Movements, Certifications and other related matters while performing the Job of Operations coordinator.
• Ensures the weekly, monthly and other annual checking of Fire Systems, Fire water pump houses are done and initiates corrective action.
• Prepares Engineering Service request, reviews punch list and P&ID’s when there is Engineering work in progress.
A degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognized and reputed university.
Minimum 12-15 years of varied experience in the operations of a complex petroleum refinery in all process units including maintenance of equipment and handling of manpower. Knowledge of safety procedures in similar environment is a must.
Experience of having handled emergencies as well as start up and shutdowns of process units is essential.
Strong analytical skills, good man management skills, good communication ability, deep understanding of the refining process, numerical skills and computer literacy is a must.
