Job Description
Job Purpose:
To establish Qasr Al Hosn as a premier cultural destination in Abu Dhabi through consistent, high-quality programming, an excellent operating model, and training of staff to implement programmes.
Key accountabilities:
Annual Planning and Performance Management
- Contribute to the development of the Culture sector’s annual business plan in order to ensure that the department’s activities and plans are aligned and congruent with the needs and plans of the department.
Monitor performance of the section in coordination with the Strategy and Planning sector and prepare periodic reports on the performance of the section, so that employees’ performance is continually measured and addressed in a timely and effective manner.
Operations
- Direct the establishment and execution of Qasr Al Hosn strategy and budgets, ensuring alignment with the overall culture sector and CSM strategy and targets.
- Manage the development of Qasr Al Hosn’s unique identity and positioning, tone of voice, and target audience, aiding to promote Qasr Al Hosn as a key cultural destination in Abu Dhabi.
- Provide strategic direction to conduct researches and develop programs, exhibitions and public engagement experiences to foster the cultural development of the Emirate and to preserve its heritage.
- Oversee all operational and facility management activities for Qasr Al Hosn, and ensure a positive and fulfilled visitor experience.
- Manage and direct the development and implementation of annual outreach and activation programs and plans, and ensure an increase in footfall.
- Direct the development of commercial strategies and plans for culture sites to generate revenues. Implement retail and merchandising plans to maximise revenues from culture sites.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a world-class visitors’ experience to maximise visitors’ satisfaction and engagement, ensuring that delivered tours and experiences embed the story and the history of Qasr Al Hosn site.
- Manage and monitor developing and devising site-specific marketing strategies, and digital / social media marketing and communication initiatives to engage with the community and target audience. Create partnerships with Travel Trade team as well as tour operators, DMCs and other tourism entities to promote and increase awareness of DCT’s sites portfolio, locally and globally.
- Monitor all financial management aspects including budgeting, effectively managing financial resources, and working closely with Strategic Partnerships team to identify and diversify sources of funding and sponsorships.
Relationship Management
- Liaise and engage with artists, cultural leaders and strategic stakeholders from other cultural institutions across the region and internationally to create effective collaborations and partnerships.
- Ensure optimum guest experience through visitor services staff by helping to establish Qasr Al Hosn as a premier cultural destination for Abu Dhabi.
- Ensure the availability of required resources to carry out all the tasks related to the Qasr Al Hosn in coordination with the People & Performance Department.
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Develop policies, processes and procedures pertaining to Qasr Al Hosn in coordination with the operational excellence section and manage their implementation to ensure adherence and all relevant requirements are fulfilled.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to Qasr Al Hosn in order to facilitate flow of information and also to build awareness in those areas.
Budget
- Contribute to the preparation of the Qasr Al Hosn’s department budget, and monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus set budget to ensure alignment with set budget guidelines
Day-to-Day Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Qasr Al Hosn providing some guidance in the related area, encouraging teamwork and facilitating related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards and ensure that employees’ activities are performed in timely, efficient, and effective manner.
- Report on a regular basis to the Line Manager on the operational activities of Department, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required to keep the Line Manager informed and updated on the department’s activities.
People Management
- Manage the effective achievement of Qasr Al Hosn objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, conducting and reviewing performance appraisals for direct and indirect reports, assisting in recruitment, providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximise subordinates and section’s performance.
- Contribute to the achievement of Emiratisation requirements within the Qasr Al Hosn through recruitment, development and retention of UAE nationals and in line with DCT’s Emiratisation initiatives.
EHS (Environment, Health and Safety)
- Ensure all relevant environment, health and safety policies, procedures and controls are adhered to so that employee safety, legislative compliance, and a responsible environmental attitude can be guaranteed.
- Comply with all relevant EHS guidelines, policies and procedures, report incidents and hazards in a timely manner, and reduce consumption of natural resources to support in protecting the environment and ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
Change Management
- Enable a culture susceptible to change management by communicating the business case for change and benefits to staff so that employees are motivated to take a ‘hands-on’ and ‘can-do’ approach to DCT’s new business challenges, participating in the development of new initiatives, meeting planned targets, and demonstrating preferred high-performance behaviors.
Experience:
- Business Administration, Design Management field; 6 years of which in managerial position.
OR
Post Graduate Holders: 8 to 10 years of experience in Facilities Management, Museum Studies, Business Administration, Design Management; 4 years of which in managerial position.
