About the Role :
The Project Manager shall also function as the Engineering Manager and will be supported by an Operations Lead and the discipline lead engineers. The Project Manager position requires demonstrated ability to manage Engineering effort for major projects.
He shall have the personality and drive to manage, direct and guide the team to achieve the Project objectives. In addition, he must be assertive and firm in dealing with other consultant’s while exercising absolute control on the work. High professional competence and management skills are the prime requisites to motivate his team to achieve high quality performance during the execution of the Project. This position demands sincere & hard work and complete accountability to the Project Company’s Project Manager.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the program execution. Frequently interfaces with upper-level management and client personnel.
- Monitors contractor performance pertaining to schedule and conformance to plans and specifications.
- Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors.
- Markets and secures additional work with client.
- Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the project.
- May participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of clients.
- Oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.
- Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria.
- Plans, directs, supervises, and controls the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project.
- Provide advice on field engineering procedures, construction methods, and financial matters to management.
- Provides input to performance reviews and development plans for assigned personnel.
- Plans, organizes, and ensures adequate staffing, execution, and monitoring of all field engineering activities and related support operations through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work.
- Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
- Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
- Works with the key project individual to devise and execute action plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
- Advises the client and company management of any such changes.
- The Project Manager is specifically responsible for maintaining current and timely change orders.
- Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
- Establishes weekly meeting to review project status and formulate action items.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- B.S. or equivalent degree in Engineering from an accredited university
- An advanced degree in Business Administration or Project / Program Management is desirable.
- Specific experience in Middle East for renowned clients will be desirable. Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Experience in executing solar power projects is mandatory.
- 20 years of related construction phase experience is required, with 10+years of related project management experience on related projects
- Incumbent should have a broad general technical and business background.
- Professional registration may also be required.
- Must have the ability to manage projects, interface with clients and enjoy being hands on technically in the project.
- Our Project Managers still get very involved in the designs on the project.
- Capability in scheduling using Primavera P6 and ongoing monitoring and driving of projects with well ordered and logical sequence;
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards Incumbent must meet GHD project management certification requirements. Proven ability to perform in a management capacity, excellent written and oral communications.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering related technical/business field
- 6+ years of related construction phase experience is required, with 3+ years of related project management experience on related projects
- Strong eye for detail coupled with a methodical and organized approach;
