Job Description

The Principal Legal Editor works in a small team of legal editors based in Dubai to source, interpret, translate, analyze, classify, select, organize, manage and maintain regional legal content for publication on Westlaw International MENA. This content includes legislation, case law, legal journal articles, current awareness, secondary sources and related materials.


About the role


As Principle Legal Editor, you will:


  • Act as primary resource for a team’s work-products and processes


  • Supervise daily workflow to meet product and quality standards, delivery dates and SLAs


  • Seek direct and indirect customer feedback and incorporate that into the product


  • Respond to queries from customers and customer-facing teams within SLAs


  • Build, maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and global operations centers


  • Prepares production, administrative, cost reports and promptly escalates issues to line manager


  • Review, classify and interpret legal information, including legislation and case law


  • Review, edit legal information created by other employees, authors, freelancers


  • Identify key legal issues in editorial materials


  • Adhere to editorial publishing schedules and quality standards


  • Consulta with multiple departments regarding the business aspects of online content as required


  • Verify own work and that of colleagues and external contributors for accuracy, completeness, quality and ensures that the information is properly presented and organized


  • Maintain and develop legal knowledge and skills training as required to complete work and stay current on legal trends and developments process (both wider feedback and self-evaluation)


About You


To be considered for the role of Principle Legal Editor you will have:


  • Law degree from an accredited law school and post-qualification experience


  • Strong online legal research, writing, and analytical skills


  • Strong Arabic and English language skills (essential)


  • Exceptional attention to detail


  • Strong, demonstrated understanding of regional MENA legal systems;


  • Ability to track and understand developing legal areas of interest in legal trends.


  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, legal research platforms, and content management systems.
