As a Principal Design Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products. Reporting to the VP of Design, you will be responsible for the following key aspects:
Design strategy: Develop and articulate the product design strategy, aligning it with the company's overall vision and goals. This includes defining design principles, design systems, and design thinking methodologies to guide the team.
Team leadership: Lead and mentor a team of talented product designers. Inspire and guide them to deliver their best work, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
User-centred design: Champion a user-centric approach to design by conducting comprehensive user research, gathering valuable insights, and translating them into intuitive, elegant, and functional product designs.
Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and marketers, to ensure the seamless integration of design into the product development process.
Prototyping and testing: Oversee the creation of prototypes and conduct usability testing to validate design concepts and iterate on them based on invaluable user feedback.
Design excellence: Uphold the highest standards of design excellence and ensure consistency in design across all product touchpoints.
Innovation: Drive innovation in product design by staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices. Encourage experimentation and creative problem-solving within the team.
Project management: Manage design projects meticulously, including timelines, resources, and budgets, to ensure the on-time delivery of high-quality design solutions.
Stakeholder communication: Effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, both internal and external, and gain buy-in for design decisions.
Quality assurance: Collaborate seamlessly with engineering teams to ensure that the final product aligns with the design vision and meets user expectations.
Continuous improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the design team, encouraging designers to learn, grow, and adapt to evolving design trends and technologies.
Design evangelism: Advocate for the value of design within the organisation, educate stakeholders on the paramount importance of user-centred design principles, and foster a design-centric mindset.
What you have
7+ years of experience in product design, with a portfolio showcasing your work in detail
Proven expertise in leading product design efforts, from concept to execution, across various platforms (web, mobile, responsive, and native)
Exceptional skills in user interface (UI) design, interaction design, and prototyping
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Suite
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers
Experience in mentoring and guiding a team of designers
Excellent spoken and written English skills
What’s good to have
Experience working in financially related markets and a knowledge of various trading types
Knowledge of user research methodologies and ability to integrate user insights into the design process
