Job Description Summary:


We are seeking skilled professionals for the role of SMB Growth & Retention Manager, specifically supporting the Middle East and Africa (MEA) Market. This position entails proactive engagement with emerging and long-tailed SMB merchants in the Middle East and Africa to mitigate churn and identify growth opportunities.

This role is ideal for a professional with experience in SMB account management, growth strategies, and retention programs. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging data-driven insights to strengthen merchant relationships and drive sustainable revenue.
 


Your day to day


  • Merchant acquisition & revenue growth: Analyze the segment to identify high-potential merchants and upsell PayPal solutions
  • Merchant Engagement & Retention: Identify and engage at-risk SMB merchants to prevent churn through targeted interventions.
  • Growth Opportunities: Expand adoption of key payment products
  • Streamline processes to remove friction for SMBs.
  • Leverage automation & insights to proactively support merchants.
  • Efficient risk & compliance handling:
  • Seamless onboarding and process optimisation
  • Campaign Execution: Partner with marketing and sales teams to develop scalable engagement programs, incentives, and campaigns that drive activation and reactivation.
  • Data-Driven churn prevention initiatives: Leverage internal tools and analytics to track merchant behavior, flagging trends that impact churn and growth.
  • Partnerships & Enablement: Collaborate with PSPs, banks, and ecosystem partners to expand SMB access to PayPal’s solutions.
  • Merchant Experience Optimization: Gather merchant feedback and work with internal teams to improve the SMB onboarding and payment experience.
  • Performance Tracking: Regularly report on key KPIs, including churn rates, reactivation success, and segment revenue growth.

What you need to bring


  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred). MBA degree is preferred.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in customer service, sales, growth strategy, or business development, preferably in fintech, payments, or SaaS.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make actionable recommendations
  • Results-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed performance targets
  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of SMB pain points, customer lifecycle management, and digital payments.
  • Proactive Mindset: A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable to work independently and as part of a team
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively engage and influence SMBs through digital touchpoints (email, webinars, automated campaigns, etc.).
  • Regional Knowledge: Familiarity with the MEA market and its SMB ecosystem is a plus.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CRM tools (Salesforce preferred), data analytics dashboards, and automation platforms.
