Job Description

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and monitoring project schedules, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and coordinating with project teams to achieve milestones within specified timelines and budgets. This role is critical for ensuring the successful planning and execution of commercial building projects by identifying potential delays, providing solutions, and maintaining project efficiency.


  • Develop detailed project schedules, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables, using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Break down project scope into activities and allocate resources such as manpower, materials, and equipment.
  • Identify the critical path and ensure project activities align with the timeline.
  • Implement systems to track project progress against the baseline schedule.
  • Analyze delays and disruptions, including their causes and impacts, and prepare recovery plans or alternative schedules.
  • Plan and allocate resources (manpower, materials, and equipment) to align with the project schedule.
  • Prepare cost forecasts based on schedule performance and identify cost-saving opportunities through efficient planning.
  • Facilitate regular planning and progress meetings with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct schedule risk assessments and develop contingency plans to address potential challenges.
  • Ensure that project schedules adhere to contractual obligations and industry standards

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.

Experience:


  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project planning for commercial building projects.

Skills:


  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and other scheduling tools.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Knowledge of construction processes, methodologies, and standards.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools is a plus.
