Specialist Physiotherapy Assessment:
Undertake a comprehensive, highly specialist physiotherapy assessment of patients, including those with complex presentations, using advanced investigative and analytical skills.
Treatment Techniques:
Select appropriate treatment techniques such as facilitation of normal movement, therapeutic handling, gait re-education, chest physiotherapy, etc.
Clinical Reasoning & Treatment Plans:
Use advanced clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment skills to formulate individual management and specialist treatment plans, in agreement with the patient when appropriate.
Patient Condition Review:
Review and evaluate the patient’s condition at each physiotherapy session and amend the treatment program as necessary to achieve planned objectives.
Collaboration:
Work with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for the patient.
Skill Maintenance:
Consolidate and maintain highly specialist skills in relation to assessment and treatment of your specialty area.
Patient & Caregiver Education:
Provide advice, teaching, and instruction to patients, relatives, and carers regarding their medical management and care needs, ensuring a consistent approach to patient care.
Promote understanding of physiotherapy aims.
Effective Communication:
Communicate effectively with patients and carers, addressing cultural, religious, and language barriers to maximize rehabilitation potential, ensure understanding of the condition, and address anxieties and concerns.
Use persuasion, motivation, explanation, and informed consent techniques with a wide variety of patients.
Teamwork:
Work as a flexible member of the rehab team and communicate effectively with other team members.
