Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain patching tools (primarily using Ivanti Security Control and secondarily using MECM/ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus) to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
- Design and implement patch management processes and workflows, adhering to industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, security teams, and application owners, to determine patch requirements and deployment schedules.
- Assess and prioritize patches based on severity, criticality, and system dependencies.
- Develop and implement patch deployment strategies for different types of assets, including servers, workstations, and applications.
- Test and validate patches in lab environments before deployment to production systems.
- Monitor patch compliance levels and perform regular audits to ensure adherence to patch management policies and standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve patch deployment issues, working closely with technical support teams and vendors when necessary.
- Stay up to date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices related to patch management.
- Provide recommendations for improving the patch management process, including automation, reporting, and monitoring capabilities.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including standard operating procedures and technical specifications.
Technical Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Patch Solution Administrator or in a similar patch management role.
- In-depth knowledge of patching tools such as Ivanti Security Control, ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus.
- Proficient in Linux systems, with hands-on experience across various distributions such as red hat, Suse Linux, CentOS, Oracle, etc, demonstrating versatile skills and adeptness in system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of patch management best practices and methodologies.
- Experience in configuring and optimizing patch management solutions for large-scale environments.
- Familiarity with security vulnerabilities, exploits, and common attack vectors.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript, Bash Script, Shell Script) for automation and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex patching issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Certified Ivanti Administrator) are a plus.
