Job Description



A Passive Fire Estimation Engineer is responsible for evaluating and estimating the design, installation, and effectiveness of passive fire protection systems in buildings and infrastructure projects. Their role is vital in ensuring that fire protection measures are properly integrated into the design, compliant with safety regulations, and optimized for fire safety performance.

Key Responsibilities:



- Fire Protection System Estimation: Develop cost estimates for passive fire protection systems, including fire-resistant walls, doors, floors, fire-stopping materials, and other building components.
Review project drawings, specifications, and fire safety requirements to identify passive fire protection needs.
Analyze the materials and installation methods used in passive fire protection and estimate the costs accurately.
- Design Review and Evaluation: Work closely with architects, fire safety engineers, and structural engineers to review fire protection system designs.
Ensure that the passive fire protection systems comply with local fire codes and regulations (e.g., NFPA, EN standards, UL testing).
Evaluate and recommend fire-rated materials and products for various building elements based on project requirements.
- Cost Control and Budgeting:Monitor costs associated with passive fire protection systems and ensure projects stay within budget.
Prepare cost-benefit analyses for fire protection systems and recommend cost-effective solutions.
Review change orders and variations related to passive fire protection systems.

Required Skills:



In-depth knowledge of passive fire protection systems and materials. Expertise in fire safety standards, regulations, and codes.

Qualifications:



Bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in passive fire protection design, estimation, and implementation.
This role ensures that passive fire protection systems are accurately estimated, designed, and implemented, contributing significantly to building safety and compliance with fire protection regulations.
