Job Description

  1. Conduct Comprehensive Eye Examinations:
  • Perform detailed eye exams to assess vision and eye health.
  • Detect and diagnose visual impairments, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses (glasses or contact lenses) based on the results of eye exams.
  1. Prescription Management:
  • Provide patients with prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses.
  • Ensure prescriptions are updated regularly as per patient needs.
  • Work closely with opticians to verify proper fitting of eyewear based on prescriptions.
  1. Patient Education:
  • Educate patients on proper eye care and vision maintenance.
  • Advise on the use and care of corrective lenses (glasses or contacts).
  • Offer guidance on lifestyle changes or treatments to improve eye health, such as reducing screen time or using protective eyewear.
  1. Customer Service:
  • Offer high-level customer service in a retail environment.
  • Address patient questions, concerns, and feedback about eye health or eyewear products.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers to enhance loyalty and retention.
  1. Inventory Management:
  • Work with store managers to track and maintain optical product inventory, including lenses and frames.
  • Recommend products based on patient preferences and needs.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked optical area.
  1. Referral and Collaboration:
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists for advanced treatments or surgeries, when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  1. Sales Support:
  • Promote and recommend eyewear products and services available in the retail store.
  • Assist in sales goals by promoting product lines, special offers, and new eyewear collections.
  • Participate in store promotions and events to boost business and customer engagement.
  1. Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain patient records and manage data in accordance with privacy regulations.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and billing for insurance claims when applicable.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry and retail trends.
